They were in MI-13 together for a bit. Other than that, they could easily lean toward vampiric qualities or origins for the Ebony Blade that would encourage a connection for the MCU. It did feel like a pretty weird choice either way, but they've made weirder things work so I'm just going to roll with it at this point. XD

Saw Sonic 2. Way better than 1st one. Knuckles is best boi. Go see.

Spoiler

Legit if you take out the stupid wedding thing with the humans. ( They can totally find a less conveluted way of introducing G.U.N.) and shorten a couple other scenes. Hands down great game movie.

ROBOTNIK MAID WUT

Loved Carey amping it up on his role and Elba basically made Knuckles Drax 2.0 and i am here for it.

They definitelt embraced a lot of the nods to games/comics and some of the looks. I wouldn't be surprised if the Knuckles series is him finding the scattered emeralds.

Sonic 3. EMO SONIC! Give us fat Eggman! Carey says he wants the fatsuit!!!

Watched both Sonic movies.  Honestly they were just really fun (stupid but fun) movies.  I went back and looked at ugly Sonic again and I cannot thank those animators enough for fixing that fucking nightmare.  But seriously just a ton of fun.  It's about the best you could ask for from a Sonic movie honestly.

Sonic 2 credits spoiler:

I really don't think a movie about SHADOW is really the best direction but I guess we'll see.  I only remember him being in garbage games I didn't want to play. :rotfl:

Bullet Train

Pretty fun movie, good action and some interesting cameos. Don't know if I need to see it again, but I had a good time. I bet it would look amazing on an OLED in 4K.

I enjoyed it a lot. The fight scenes gave a good classic Jackie Chan feels, dialogue was fun and witty. Soundtrack was top notch and overall it was just a fun movie. Pretty much what I expected out of it from what the trailer showed.

Fucking ?

Glass Onion

I didn't like it as much as Knives Out, but the characters made it a fun movie.

The characters were super fun. But i felt the sluthing was more fast paced than the first one which probably took out some of the big mystery out.

The Menu

This was sooooo fucking good! Got my 2 favorite things! Horror and food porn. Def recommend it.

Amsterdam

Been wanting to watch this and i got HBO free this week so playing catch up. Great story, phenomenal cast. And remember folks, fuck fascists.

Finally got around to seeing Nope. I really liked it. Definitely better than Us, but I didn't like it nearly as much as Get Out. The sound design in this movie is INCREDIBLE.

That scene inside the alien after it eats all those people at Stephen Yuen's show, holy shit that was horrific. The sounds of their screams, even as the alien thing flies around, only to have them suddenly cut off with a crunch was intense.

6 Underground

Typical Michael Bay action movie, starring Ryan Reynolds. Enjoyable action, if a lot over the top. Probably a 7/10.

Oh yea it's one of the few Michael Bay movies i enjoy. I won't lie it's mainly because of Ryan Renolds being in it but it's pretty straight forward too so i agree with that scoring.

The Super Mario Bros Movie

I liked it quite a bit. Went into it expecting a kids movie, which it totally was. There were lots of easter eggs, and I'm sure I missed a bunch. Its an entertaining hour and a half. Jack Black was the best out of all the voice actors. Chris Pratt I didn't mind nearly as much as I thought I would, oddly enough Seth Rogen as DK was my least favorite. I went into it thinking he was perfect, but not afterwards.

Loved the shit out of the Mario movie. Loved the references, easter eggs, IRL old music choices, the philosophical Luma, Jack Black as Bowser (those fucking songs), how they made you not care in like 2 minutes that Charles Martinet wasn't the voice, and how it was only 90ish minutes so by the end you wanted more.

Favourite Easter Eggs

The F-Zero and Punch Out fighter posters in the diner

Charles Martinet playing Donkey Kong in said diner

The Donkey Kong Country Returns rocket barrel

Mario power-sliding into boosts during the Rainbow Road kart sequence

How Mario's dad looked like Talon from OoT

Took my son to see it. Was definitely better than it seemed like it would be. Also, that's the first time I've seen a line going out the door to get into our small town theater since the 90s. O_o

Definitely agree on Seth Rogan as Donkey Kong. He was one of the ones where I was like "this seems like it will work" but it just didn't. Didn't feel like he was really trying that hard. Christ Pratt still definitely just sounded like Chris Pratt most of the time, but he seemed like he was at least trying, and it didn't feel like a distraction. The rest were pretty great overall. Definitely loved all the little references and stuff too. The story being simple really worked for it and let them fit in a lot of stuff they might not have otherwise. The Luma was definitely my favorite character. I loved that it never even explained it or why it was like that too. :rotfl:

Also watched Dungeons & Dragons last night. It has a few issues, but overall it was really well done. Wasn't feeling it much in the first 1/3 or so of the movie, but it improved pretty quickly after that and ended up being a lot of fun by the end. There's a lot they did right in it overall, so I'm glad they finally figured out how to make stuff like this not suck between it and Vox Machina. XD

Fast 9, or F9 or whatever it's called

This series has been over the top for a bit now, but I think it may have fully jumped the shark in this one. They actually had the audacity to mention sticking to the laws of physics in one later scene, when 90% of the stuff they've done earlier in the film totally throws physics out the window. It was enjoyable for a stupid shut your brain off type movie, but I couldn't shut mine off enough I guess.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem

Such a great movie, I loved every second of it. The turtles felt like actual brothers in this movie, and they nailed everyone's characters so god damn well. I'd heard the actors playing the TMNT were in the recording booth at the same time to make them riffing off of each other pretty natural. Lots of good pop culture references, without seeming like they were trying to hard to fit them in. Paul Rudd as Mondo Gecko was a fucking awesome choice, and i'm really looking forward to the sequel. My only real "complaint":

Is that Baxter Stockman didn't become the fly character. I think it's sort of implied the baby fly and Baxter sort of merged together with the mutagen, kind of like he did at the end with all the animals in the park. I'm assuming it was so they could have a bad guy that dies off and not have it "wasted" on a character like Baxter.

Gran Turismo

Wasn't really excited about seeing it, but my partner and his friend are big into driving so we all went to see it. It was enjoyable for what it was, outside of it being 100% predictable. The driving scenes were really well done, and it had some cool shots of the action, but it's definitely not a movie anyone should rush out to see. I also didn't realize it was based on a true story.

I mean true stories are one of the last resorts for movies since there hasn't been anything original out. But that's my thoughts on those since, like much of anything that gets a film adaptation, "Based on" is a very loose term.

I watched Game Night on Hulu since i've seen a few friends speak good things on it. And holy crap it was more fun and insane than i was expecting it for. 8/10 for sure.

Took my niece and nephew to a movie and apparently they were really looking forward to seeing this so off we went.

It's a kids movie obviously but had a decent amount of humor to keep me entertained. I'd recommend watching it with some little ones.

Uncharted

it was fun for what it was, once you don't worry about it not being based on any of the game stories. There were some fun action sequences, especially the final one. I wish they picked someone other than Mark Wahlberg to play Sully, it's too hard to think of him as anything but Mark Wahlberg.

Nimona is seriously the fucking best. I even don't mind the changes they did from the comic and gave it more of a main story because it flows and speaks the message so clearly for lgbtq+ voices. I fucking love her chaotic energy.

Road House (2024)

Fine for a shut your brain off action movie. A bunch of over the top stunts, a hero and a side villain that are basically superhuman, and a decent soundtrack. Don't think it needed to be a Road House reboot, could've been any sort of generic action movie. I'd give it maybe a 5 or an 6. Not really something I'd recommend unless you're absolutely out of options.

Monkey Man (2024)

Kind of a John Wick-esque movie, not bad. The middle bit was a little slow, but the ending was pretty great.

Clue (1985)

I was entertained the whole time, but it wasn't anything special. Had a good cast of actors and they were all fantastic, but I was kinda ready for it to be over.

So I watched Madam Web on Netflix and sad to say....wasn't impressed. I know I'm getting to a point of the Marvel stuff beyond what I've read in the past but from what 1 friend was talking to me about it last night and just my initial impression. I hate that they pretty much underplayed the whole thing.

I Saw The TV Glow (2024)

Really interesting movie although to be honest I didn't get everything the film was laying out, even if I got the big picture. Lots of trans people on social media have been hyping it up and it only recently came out on VOD, so I finally got around to giving it a look. While the style of the movie isn't at all like this, I equate this movie with Get Out, in that there's a bunch of symbolism and hints at things that I didn't notice until I went out and read the discourse about the movie itself.

The Beekeeper (2024)

Another Jason Statham movie where he's a got a "regular" job until something bad happens, and then he has to avenge what happened, all by himself. I found it hard to suspend my disbelief, especially in the last few action sequences.

Deadpool & Wolverine

I fucking loved it. Deadpool 1 > 3 > 2. Will probably post more spoiler-y stuff in the morning when I'm at my keyboard

Side note: I've loved about 95% of what the MCU has produced, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt

Alright, more spoiler-y thoughts.

I never would've guessed, in a million years, that we'd be seeing Age of Apocalypse Wolverine in a Marvel movie, much less an MCU one. The other different versions of Wolverine ; comic accurate height (which was GOLD), Cavil-rine was awesome, I forget some of the others....OH, more accurate Old Man Logan! All of which got the movie off to a fantastic start. That intro scene with Deadpool beating the shit out of the TVA guys with Logan's adamantium skeleton may be the best start to a Marvel movie ever. The Cap/Johnny Storm bait and switch (which I had seen other people say "wouldn't it be cool if that happened?) had me DYING. It was cool seeing original Sabertooth back (although I would've loved to see Liev Schreiber back as well, but oh well), as well as original Toad. Would've been cool to see the rest of the original movie team come back as well but would probably be far over budget (especially with getting Chris Evans back). Cassandra Nova was pretty dope as a main villain, her powers were creepy as fuck...I had to stop looking at her literally poking around in people's heads at some point, it was nasty. I feel like even though she died at the end, there's still a shot they can bring her back at some point. I think she's too cool to save for just one movie.

I had both Lady Deadpool and X-23 coming back spoiled before the movie (thanks The Verge's Facebook page), but honestly X-23's the only one I really wish I hadn't known about going in, as I loved that character in Logan, and her character in the comics. Thinking back on it, I don't give a shit about Lady Deadpool, and considering how little of an impact she had on the movie as a whole, I wasn't as mad about it, but it still kinda sucked. They need to stop spoiling so much shit in trailers. That said, seeing Wesley fucking Snipes come back as Blade was a very welcome surprise, as I don't think he and Ryan got along back on the third Blade movie. The joke about him being the only Blade was pretty good too, I really hope they're finally able to get that movie off the ground. Seeing Wolverine in a more accurate costume was amazing, although there were some angles where it just looked off (mostly around the back of the shoulders), but overall it was super fucking cool. When he pulls the cowl up near the end I said "he had that there the whole time?!" and had a good laugh about it.

All in all, it felt like a really good send-off to the Fox MCU (which I think Blade is technically a part of, even though I think New Line distributed it?), and the mid-credits scene being a behind the scenes montage of a bunch of old non-MCU stuff was a wonderful touch. I'm actually really looking forward to watching it again, I may see if the local cheap theater has a showing some time next week.

Just watched it earlier. What a fantastic movie. So many little details and fun cameos (both character and actor-wise). I really hope Disney/Marvel were taking notes with how big it seems like this movie is going to be considering it appears to be smashing more than a few records with no signs of stopping. It managed to reference a lot of active MCU concepts without getting bogged down by them, and that's something they seem to need to relearn based on some of their more recent films.

Spoiler

Honestly, the only things that bothered me a little in the movie were both at the very beginning. Those being the fact that they used "real" opening credits. One of the fun parts of the first two movies was the opening credits all being goofy shit like "Directed by: Some Asshole" and "Starring: God's Favorite Idiot", etc. The other was the fact that he was ripping solid pieces of Wolverine's adamantium skeleton apart? Like I get separating limbs and other things that would have been connected at joints by cartilage, but if I recall there were a few spots where he ripped away stuff that would have been straight adamantium. Perhaps I'm remembering that bit wrong though. I feel like there would have been a joke about it otherwise.

I love the characters/actors they got for this and it really did feel like a true sendoff for the Fox movies. Seeing Channing Tatum as Gambit makes me wish we could have actually seen his character in a movie. I still don't think a standalone movie would have been a good idea, but he did a pretty good job and he definitely could have pulled off the character in an X-Men movie. Seems like they nailed every major Fox Marvel movie series in some way, which was really cool. The other Deadpools were great. Some solid cameos there too. Nathan Fillion (the floating head one), Matthew Mcconaughey (the cowboy one), and he snuck his whole family (at least in voice) in there as well as "Ladypool" was Blake Lively, and "Kidpool" and "Babypool" were his two kids.

Just got home from my round of it with friends first thing this morning. OMG fucking perfection.

Spoiler

Okay glad I wasn't the only one weirded out about Deadpool prying apart Wolverine's skeleton in the opening creds. Still a fucking great fight scene, but yea..yea...
Loved all the fucking cameos. Cavilline will be engraved into my brain for sweet dreams now. Elektra was the only one I wasn't really big on but that's a personal meh for me. Movie itself was bad as well as Jennifer Garters acting itself. But I know it made sense to put her in it for the obvious reasons we pointed out. If anything, while they did do flashback footage. I'm legit surprised we didn't get "Turrible Wade Wilson that Deadpool goes back in time to kill in the Wolvrine movie (or Xmen, or whichever one he came from. The mouth stitched one with X's over his eyes) in the Dead Parade of Deadpools.

1 small silly gripe my friend had after it all was that a lot of the jokes seemed to be targeted for folks who know all the shit that happens not only with the Bromance of Hugh and Ryan, or things they did in their careers, but pretty much anything about their lives or things you learn doing internet deep dives. Like I didn't know that Hugh Jackman actually had a divorce from his wife because I personally don't do the whole info stalking on celebs a lot. But even then I felt I gripped a lot of the jokes just fine.
