Favorite YouTube Channels

Recommended Posts

I've been watching a lot of YouTube lately as a wind down to go to bed. Thought I'd share some of my favorites and see what you guys have to offer up.

PayMoneyWubby

https://www.youtube.com/user/PaymoneyWubby

He's become one of my favorites. He's not for everyone on the comedy area but he also exposes a lot of bad shit that slips by YT. He's a pretty charismatic and funny dude. He does do shock/dark humor though.

Hydraulic Press Channel

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcMDMoNu66_1Hwi5-MeiQgw

I think most everyone is familiar with this one. It's just fun to watch and listen to him tell you how dumb it is to do what he does.

Beyond the Press

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCveB47lgzZJ1WOf4XYVJNBw

Same people as Hydraulic Press but this is them doing other weird and dangerous stuff. One recent video they replaced their cars tires with circular saw blades and drove around on a frozen lake.

How Ridiculous

https://www.youtube.com/user/whoisjimmy

This is pretty much wholesome fun. These guys do a bunch of different things involving bowling balls, anvils, giant darts and dropping them from moderate to extreme heights, mostly.

GTOger

https://www.youtube.com/user/gtoger

This is a new one that I discovered. Basically, a 247 shop owner has reserved parking in the back of his store. He has plastered no parking/tow signs everywhere but people continuously park there. He has a camera setup to watch them park, get towed and their reaction when they return to their cars. It's mildly entertaining.

44Teeth

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCS2b27uRzxSQX6MvjdmHGIg

These guys do some great bike videos, especially their Budget Bike Battles are pretty epic (think old-school Top Gear specials, but with bikes). Plus Boot Bananas promo's are the jizz.

JoergSprave

https://www.youtube.com/user/JoergSprave/

Just an old german guy building crazy things. It's fun to laugh at his character and accent and how "unedited" the content is compared to most well-produced online material nowadays. Brings back some memories to the older internet.

Internet Comment Ettiquette

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyWDmyZRjrGHeKF-ofFsT5Q

Also reminds me more of the old internet, plain simple dumdum humour.

PBS Space-Time

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7_gcs09iThXybpVgjHZ_7g

Cause it makes me feel like a dum-dum

LWD / LWR / Race to Dakar

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCv5GHn5m4Wh58-3I87mb_4A

I enjoy rewatching this every now and then cause of the motorcycle & travel feelz.

Isaac Arthur

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZFipeZtQM5CKUjx6grh54g

It also makes me feel like a dum-dum, but in a "would be" world of futurism.

Captain Midnight

This guy talks about all things comic related.  I really really like this channel and it is one of I think the only channels where I watch every single video he puts out, usually right after he puts it out.  He has a great way of talking about this stuff.

Comics Explained

Goes over lots of comic related stuff.  As the name would imply...it...explains...them.  So if you're interested in a story line or an interpretation of what happened, they have some good stuff.

Jayz2cents

Fun guy that talks about computer hardware, does lots of builds, loves water cooling, etc.  He knows his shit pretty well and has a lot of experience with a little bit of humor.

Linus Tech Tips

Talking about computer hardware and gaming/computer hardware related things.  I mostly watch it because it's really goofy and funny.  Sometimes there are videos about things I didn't know about.  They do SO many fucking videos that it turns me onto things I didn't know.

Louis Rossmann

Dude does real legit soldering and shit kind of hardware repair.  Have been a fan of his rants for a while. :rotfl:

Gamer Nexus

I tend to watch this one when I need info on something specific (mostly computer hardware).  This guys REALLY knows his shit and is very in depth.  This channel isn't entertainment like the other 2, dude just gets into it but that also means I don't want to just sit around watching the videos for fun. :rotfl:

Angry Joe

Guy is super entertaining.  Game reviewer mostly.  I like watching his game reviews because he really gets into with costumes and silly shit.

Jememy Jahns

Does movie reviews.  Talking head waving arms reviews.  I like his style.  I don't watch a lot of movie reviews but I like his on occasion.

Dunkey

It's dunkey.  He's funny as fuck.

Hot Ones

Watch celebrities eat really hot wings and do interviews.

Video game related:

Datto - Dude plays mostly Destiny and does a lot of videos explaining a bunch of stuff like how new modes work, how good guns are, etc.

Game Maker's Toolkit - A lot of videos going into detail about how levels/dungeons are laid out. Started with the Zelda series, then moved onto Metroid, and is currently on Metroid Prime.

Giant Bomb - My main source of gaming news/entertainment. News comes mostly from the podcast, but they do videos showcasing a bunch of new games. I learned about stuff like Papers, Please and Baba Is You from them.

Jablinski Games - It's Jack Black doing a loosely gaming related channel. I'm a huge fan of the dude, so I enjoy his stuff.

My name is Byf - Another Destiny guy, he does deep dives into lore.

Summoning Salt - Does videos explaining the history of specific video game speedruns

Up Up Down Down - WWE wrestler Xavier Woods (aka Austin Creed) has his own video game channel, with a bunch of cool stuff. It's a lot of wrestlers back stage playing video games. You don't get to see them as their normal selves that often, so it's real interesting.

Music related:

Kye Smith - One of the many drummers I follow. He did some 5 minute retrospective videos of a bunch of punk bands.

Bill McClintock - He does some really interesting song mashups. His most recent is a mashup of a Madonna song and a Motley Crue song.

Polyphonic - Mostly deep dives into musical topics. The first I saw was about how Freddie Mercury is such a fantastic singer.

Etc.:

Rifftrax - Some of the guys from Mystery Science Theater 3000. They do the same thing, watch movies and make fun of them.

That's just a few of the 149 channels I subscribe to.

I love to put on Let's Play videos while I draw, so that's mostly what I do on youtube... but I have some others I enjoy!

For Gaming/Let's Plays

GG Gab is one of my favorites, she's very laid back, can speak multiple languages and has cute cats. My fav thing she does is translation playthroughs of Japanese games that haven't had English releases. She puts a lot of work into them, to the point where she was noticed and hired to do one officially!

John Wolfe AKA HarshlyCritical is my other fav. Dude's kinda a sarcastic dick but he plays horror games without fucking screaming all the time and can be really funny.

For Fun Food Stuff

Cooking with Dog is so fucking charming and fun. It's a Japanese channel where the hosts are a chef and her dog, and the dog narrates (in English!) Sadly the actual dog passed away a bit ago, but he lives on and is still present in videos in stuffed animal form and Chef is still her charming self.

Jun's Kitchen another Japan based channel, Jun does some really fucking amazing looking dishes in his small apartment and makes some lovely videos to go with it. He has an American wife (she has a channel of her own I sometimes watch but it's more vlog stuff), so his channel is almost entirely in English, but he will explain Japanese names/terms for things. He features their cats in his videos, which gives them extra charm. He lets the cats sniff what he's doing so that their curiosity is sated and they will just sit and watch him work. It's great!

For Silly Fun

Drawfee some artist friends take funny ideas (for example---making someone who doesn't know anything about pokemon draw what she thinks they look like based on pokedex entries) and collab to make silly drawings! They draw some batshit things and a good time is had by all.... and they always end an episode by apologizing for what they drew. Love it.

There's also Vsauce, but not much has happened on there since he started his own YouTubeRed show.

My Drunk Kitchen show is good for a few laughs too.  I subbed to her like a million years ago and watched a bunch of her videos.  They were fucking hilarious.  Also I just saw her as a judge on Buddy vs Duff and was like heyyyyyy she's from the internet omfg.

They're primarily a German channel, so "Kurzgesagt" roughly means "In a Nutshell" in German, which is how I search for their channel.

I also forgot about Retro Replay - Actors/Voice actors Nolan North and Troy Baker do a weekly show where they play an older game and just have really hilarious conversations.

SortedFood - 2 chefs, 3 normal dudes doing various food shows from reviewing recipe books to competing in themed cooks-offs judged by one of the chefs

Super Bunnyhop - Video Game essay vids

I goddamn ADORE YouTube so I'm gonna have to be a little careful here or I'll end up sharing 3,000 channels:

The Hoax Hotel

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnNlJNSRxa3PF8XrKHOEPug

A new find, think 419eater in animated form. Dude phones scammers and casually wastes their time to give them less time to scam others. Scammers get angry. Dude calls back continually.

Summoning Salt

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtUbO6rBht0daVIOGML3c8w

Even if you have only a passing knowledge of what Speedeunning is, this guy's videos are so well produced before long you'll be watching him talk about games you never GAF about before. Basically takes a game and details the history of the people who have held the records for fastest completion over the years.

Ryukahr

https://www.youtube.com/user/ryukahr

Look, there are a LOT of talented Mario gamers out there. If you like this then check out Grand PooBear, Mitchflowerpower, Dode, Pangea, darbian, to name a few. But while some are more talented but not very entertaining to listen to (Dode) and others are less talented but can talk up an empty room (Poo), ryukahr is the perfect blend of easy listening, insightful commentary and some mad skillz while seeming like a normal dude.

Postmodern Jukebox

https://www.youtube.com/user/ScottBradleeLovesYa

Modern songs given a 50s/60s twist.

And finally a short list of the best movie reviewers/discussion channels:

Let Me Explain - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3WGuV8xgGZAk2B2itJqgDg

Lessons From The Screenplay - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCErSSa3CaP_GJxmFpdjG9Jw

Chris Stuckmann aka actually fucking webhead - https://www.youtube.com/user/ChrisStuckmann

The Closer Look - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCI9DUIgtRGHNH_HmSTcfUbA

The Unusual Suspect - https://www.youtube.com/user/UnusualSuspect2013

Now You See It - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWTFGPpNQ0Ms6afXhaWDiRw

And the absolute pinnacle of YouTube movie discussion who sadly stopped posting videos two years ago, the utterly brilliant Every Frame A Painting - https://www.youtube.com/user/everyframeapainting

18 saw Postmodern Jukebox on bandsintown a while back and we were hyped until we saw the price; which I think was somewhere around £50 a ticket :O We could go to 2-3 other shows for that!

They are very talented and good, though. I like when they collab with Puddles.

Another music related channel I follow is Delta Empire. He does some really amazing drum covers. Guy wears a mask when he plays, so one of the rumors is that it's not just one dude doing all these covers.
