Post Your PC Specs

Recommended Posts

This seemed like a fun idea.  Post all the specs for your main PC (or gaming PC).  If all your have is a laptop, post about that (give us a model and maybe a link to it).  Post picture too if you can!  Gaming PCs especially have kinds of blinky lights now. :P

If you are able to, post links to the parts (doesn't have to be where you bought them).  It's nice to click on shit and drool over it. :D

Lazy so not posting as much as you.

Case: Corsair Vengeance Series C70

CPU: Intel i7-4790K Devil's Canyon Quad-Core 4.0 GHz

Motherboard: ASUS MAXIMUS VI HERO

Graphics Card: ASUS GeForce GTX 970

RAM: G.SKILL Sniper Series 16GB DDR3

Hard Drives: 1 250GB SSD, 1 2TB HDD, 1 1TB HDD.

Everything else is relatively plain stuff. Old HP monitor hold over from my prebuilt HP computer (these things are built to last. My wife's she had from before I met her is still running like new). Same with keyboard. Have a Razer DeathAdder for mouse. Desk and top of my computer are a giant mess right now so no pictures. XD

Have to replace video card though. Can't play games right now because my computer will shut down after like an hour of playing. Thought it might be power supply but switched out card with my wife's for a day and it ran games all day with no problem so need to save up and get a new one before I can do PC gaming anymore I guess.

You have the same CPU I have in my media server!  I'm going to upgrade my desktop soon to a 3700x for the big clock bump and then I think I will be good for a while. :D

Too lazy to type all mine out.

I'm using a 27" ASUS monitor, don't know the exact model, but it has super low latency (like around 2ms I think). Bought it for fighting games, mostly. My Windows drive is a 500GB SSD, and I have two 2TB drives, which at this point are kinda old and should probably get replaced before too much longer, but i'm lazy.

Controller: Xbox 360 Wireless Controller

HDTV Antenna: Mohu MH-ANT1000 Leaf Hdtv Antenna

Headset: SteelSeries Siberia 840 (RF + Bluetooth + 3.5mm audio + 2x removable batteries)

This is my only desktop and is an HTPC / Gaming PC that runs primarily in the living room with two HDTVs as dual monitors, driven by a wireless keyboard/mouse/controller setup, complete with a full-powered home stereo system via optical audio. It also has that HDTV antenna and tuner if I want to record free aired TV right to my HDDs.

However, the tower itself resides on the other side of the wall behind the TVs; in my office behind my desk. All the cables run through an outlet-sized hole in the drywall that feed through Cable Pass Through Brush Wall Plates. The TV/stereo setup is close enough that none of the HDMI, optical or ethernet cables need to be longer than 10ft, including a USB 3.0 expansion hub so I can plug things into the PC from inside the entertainment center the TVs are on. Having the tower on the other side of the wall also makes it 100% silent in the living room when watching TV or movies.

The 3rd monitor is on the desk in the office where the PC tower actually is. I'm not in there as often so all that's setup in there is the single monitor, keyboard and mouse. There are no speakers in there but my wireless Steelseries headphones work perfectly there since I'm technically closer to the receiver than when on the couch on the opposite side of the living room. Thinking of possibly expending that setup to have two monitors in there so I can actually get shit done, but that'll mean I actually have FOUR monitors which gets kind of strange when trying to move the mouse around without it getting lost on screens that I can't see because they're "in the other room". I'd still rather do that than buy and build a whole additional PC just for that office given how much I've invested in the main PC.

So, I finally have a new PC.

Original budget was £700 and I saw a few video editing builds I wanted to emulate, the top-end being about £2,000 so that was my aim - get as close to a £2,000 PC for as close to a £700 budget as possible, meet somewhere in the middle. My absolute upper limit was £1,400.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X with Wraith Prism RGB LED Cooler £270
GFX: PNY GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6Gb XLR8 Gaming Overclocked Edition £250 (NOTE: This is above the recommendations for the £2,000 build)
Motherboard: MSI X470 Gaming Plus ATX £107

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32Gb (2x 16Gb) DDR4 2666MHz C16 XMP 2.0 £131

Storage 1: Samsung MZ-V7S1T0BW 970 EVO Plus 1Tb Solid State Drive £212 (NOTE: This was from the $5,000+ build  total overkill)
Storage 2: WD 4Tb Desktop HD £89

Case: Phanteks DBK £63
Power Supply: Seasonic SSR-850fx Focus Plus Gold 850 (80+ Gold, ATX 12v) £95

Monitor 1: AOC 21.5" £65

Monitor 2: AOC 21.5" £65 (NOTE: Really limited by space I could have went for like a 24" and an 18" but I'd rather have two decent sized monitors for what I want to do)

Speakers: Logitech Z213 £27
Mouse: Easterntime Tech X-08 wireless £14
Keyboard: Logitech K120 for Business £8 (NOTE: I want to upgrade this badly but holy shit the costs were rising)
Extra FansThere's like 3 extra RGB Corsair fans in there but I forget the exact model, call it £20
Extra Wires: Needed to replace my ethernet cables so invested in longer, plus needed adaptors for the monitors, spent like an extra £7

Desk: Hemnes Bureau £230 (NOTE: My budget for this was £70 but this beauty is perfect, exact to the millimetre dimensions to fit the space I have and the build I wanted so it needed bought)

Total Cost: £1,650

Evaluation: I went super over budget here, but all things considered, the difference in quality between most things in the £1,400-£3,000 range is negligible compared to what I got, the GFX card is the main thing for what I need and I went above recommendations on that and above recommendations but minorly above budget on other bits and pieces. I straight forgot about the desk, monitors, etc in my original budget so really it should have been closer to £900 to begin with. I feel I've got fantastic value for money for an initial overpayment on what I desired to spend.
