I thought Cody/MJF was pretty disappointing.  Something felt missing for all the build there was.  Wasn't feeling Dustin/Hager or Nyla/Statlander.  But everything else was rad.

I was originally wanting Jericho to win so he could build up an even bigger heel champion legacy, but the match made Moxley's victory felt so deserved.  I'm so proud for the dude.

Cody/MJF - Things I can come up with to explain it

 

 

 

- The crowd wanted workrate and not mediocre wrestling with gaga. They weren't really getting it up for Jericho vs Moxley either, which was similar stuff.

- Cody is already a mediocre in-ring guy and his broken toe hobbled his performance

- MJF has barely wrestled in AEW, so no one knows his signature moves beyond "trolls Cody by using the Crossrhodes" and "does all the '80s cheating spots." I recall at one point that Excalibur excitedly called for "Salt of the Earth" when MJF grabbed an armbar and no one reacted to it because if he's done it on TV, I don't remember it

- Cody's tattoo

- No Pharaoh

- Lingering effects of Kenny/Page vs The Bucks. They sent Nyla and Statlander out there to die like the were 2000's divas trying to follow that, it didn't help Cody/MJF either (though the counter to this is Orange Cassidy and PAC having a good match)

I do think the trio of Pac and the Lucha Bros is badass and holds a lot of potential.  And I kind of liked the sound of the Spanish version of their name.

 

But yeah, straight of "Death Triangle" is pretty fucking dumb.  Even a little swap like "Triangle of Death" sounds marginally better.

Legit, as I was watching, I had the thought of looking at the player to see how much time was left in the show.  But seeing the way Brodie was dominating, I stopped because I had this feeling.  I didn't actually think the feeling would come true, though.

 

Kudos on them for having all the post-match shenanigans, too, because if I had looked, I would have thought the match would have had at least a solid 5+ minutes left.  Not to mention I absolutely love ballsy booking like that.  I was just as in support when Hiromu beat KUSHIDA in like 3 minutes or however short it was.

I'm a serial "how much time is left" checker with the DVR, and I think I'd fast-forwarded through a commercial. There was like 11 minutes left including entrances so me and my sister were figuring on a time-limit draw. Bryce hitting the three count (and looking like he didn't know he was going to hit the three count) was so shocking that I had to see the rest play out... and then it kept playing out

 

I loved how they had Arn beat up a few of the nerds too. Like it's supposed to be a cult for losers and dorks so even as an old man he should be able to whip a few of them, and then the Brodie superkick to the gut and putting him down softly to protect his neck IRL, fucking love shit like that
