Misheard Lyrics

Recommended Posts

What are some lyrics you've gotten wrong?

Web's example from "Come Out And Play" by The Offspring comes to mind, where instead of "take 'em out", he heard "drink your milk".

When I was in kindergarten I thought "elemeno" was a single letter in the alphabet song.

God, there's too many to even list. Thanks auditory processing issues! Here's a fav tho---

Dave Matthews Band - What Would You Say

For some reason I thought the lyric "If you a doggie on a chain (don't bite the mail man)" said "donkey" instead as a joke, like you ain't even a dog you're an ass but don't bite the mailman! Nah. I just can't fucking hear lmao.

There's this song I like called Aurora Tour, but for some reason I never made the connection with the relevant line; they talk about the northern lights a couple of times in the song so that's where I thought it kicked in. They sing:

"You know you mean the world to me, but I'm going on Aurora Tour"

I heard:

"You know you mean the world to me, but I'm going on A World Tour"

:uhoh:

After talking to my wife it seems like it was a fairly common mistake

I spent too big a chunk of my life so far thinking there was a Neil Diamond song called "Reverend Blue Jeans". Like, it was about a cool young vicar. :uhoh:

Money talks
But it don't sing and dance
And it don't walk
And long as I can have you
Here with me,
I'd much rather be
Reverend blue jeans
:cookie1:

...I mean, vicars and Christians in general aren't supposed to care too much about money, so it kind of works...

For the song "Don't You Want Me" by Human League, I used to think it went "Don't chew on me, baby. Don't chew on me, owwww", instead of "Don't you want me, baby?"
