I've missed our baseball conversations and with both the Blue Jays and Mariners possibly going into the playoffs we have a lot to talk about.

I ended up playing nearly all of Remedy's games after Control. I had owned the first Alan Wake for years but avoided it because it sounded like a survival horror game and I generally can't play those anymore. Gave it a shot after Control and loved the story. Ironically, Alan Wake 2 is more like a survival horror game, so I was worried but I ended up still really enjoying it. There are definitely some heavy ties to Control in it (especially via one of the DLC), and there's a teaser for Control 2 at the end of one of them (much like the Control DLC had a teaser for Alan Wake 2). If you haven't played it, I'd also recommend Quantum Break. It's not technically part of the shared universe thing since the IP for it is owned by Microsoft, but they sort of found a workaround for it that ends up being pretty clear in Alan Wake 2 if you've played it. 13.) Dead Take Really interesting little psychological horror adventure game featuring Neil Newbon, Ben Starr, and some other well known voice actors made by the same studio that did Tales of Kunsera: ZAU. Was drawn to it primarily for the people it featured and because I really liked ZAU and was interested to see what else the studio could do. Horror games are something I often can't play these days just because they stress me out too much, but this one hit just about the perfect spot for me. Super intense atmosphere and a pretty dark but really interesting story. Not having something chasing you around apparently makes the difference for me. Got pretty tense at times, but I enjoyed playing it quite a bit. It gets a bit overly artsy at times, but that was to be expected. Had some really solid puzzles too. Nothing so complicated that I got frustrated, but still took some time to think through.

12.) Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Hands down one of the best games I've played in I don't know how long. I love just about every part of it, and it's easily in my top 5. Great story, great characters, great gameplay, fantastic environments and lots of fun side stuff and intriguing mysteries to dig into. You can really feel the influence from other RPGS, in particular the Final Fantasy games. I haven't been this all around impressed with a game in a long time. Can definitely see myself going back to this one in time.

Zau was a great game. Just long enough to feel satisfying and ended before it became a drag. The movement and the platforming(and the boss fights) were definitely the highlights for me gameplay wise. I found the combat zones to be tedious, though

I actually have been playing this very slowly with my girlfriend over the last couple months too for the EXACT same reason. We technically beat it, but I want to go through and get the different endings before moving on to Little Goodie Two Shoes, since I know the ending we got doesn't directly correlate it. I'm kinda with you where it's a fun experience if not a bit predictable and basic. Little Goodie Two Shoes seems like it's the more creative/original game. That said, I did really enjoy this and it was fun going along the journey of seeing how the protagonist and the other characters fit into the whole narrative.

8.) Dragon Age: The Veilguard I honestly really enjoyed this game. I was skeptical early on because some of the dialogue is... questionable, but the overall story was really good and I loved the companions and their personal stories. There were some great story beats and they really went above and beyond answering most of the lingering questions from previous games while setting up for some interesting stuff that could still come if/when they do another. Getting filled in on a lot of the deep backstory type stuff was something I wasn't expecting too so that was a hell of a lore dump. The combat was a lot more fun that I thought it would be from what I had seen/read before the game came out, and though there is more I wish they would have done with it, this ended up being a LOT better than I was worried it would be after Bioware's last couple games. Basically, as a fan of the series since its inception, I have to say that some of the stuff they missed on stood out pretty starkly and where they had to cut corners stood out quite a bit and you could almost feel where they pivoted on design or story elements part way through development, but the stuff they did right made up for that pretty soundly. I was really happy with it overall. 9.) Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Purgatory Visual novel w/ some RPG elements. It is a sequel to WtA: Heart of the Forest, and though it felt shorter than its predecessor, it was still pretty enjoyable. Not the best of its kind I've played by any stretch, and the ending felt really rushed and abrupt but it seems like it has decent replay value which is always nice. I think I liked the first one more overall, but I still enjoyed this one as well.

Good to be back! I'm hoping to actually really for real be more active again because lately it's really hit me how much I miss the anime chatter here! Wolf's Rain was a good re-experience. I remembered just enough and also forgot just enough! Only real issue is that Crunchyroll put the THREE(!!!) DVD extra recap episodes in the middle of the series and and apparently never bothered to put the actual last 3 episodes of the anime in. So I had to go torrent those. What's the fucking point of attempting to support shit legally if these monopoly bozos ain't even gonna fix shit like that?? I don't think I've ever actually watched any of GT before. I seem to recall people kinda shitting on it because it wasn't Z, but if it's actually fun maybe I'll watch a bit since I'm on a nostalgia kick.
