Favorite and Least Favorite ID Game

Alright new game voting topic.  This time we're going with ID Software.  Got the list of games here (going with games they made not just published).

 

I started with Wolfenstein because I don't really think many people have even heard of the stuff before and I left out mobile games because meh.  If you want to, you can use the "Other" selection and tell us what games I left out that you played or are your favorites/least favorites.  Let's do this!

I hate dropping the least on Rage. It had such great promise and potential. It just failed to deliver on anything other than solid shooting mechanics and animations. In fact, in hindsight, Rage's gameplay was probably a foundation for Doom 2016

Only played Wolfeinstein 3D (DOS) and Doom (SNES) for sure. I may have played the PC version of Doom before but I really forget. I assume I played a bit of N64 Quake but I don't remember anything about it. I did see part of Doom 3 in action at a friend's house when it came out but never played it.

 

Out of Wolf 3D and SNES Doom, I liked Wolf more. Doom was dark and that scared me as a little kid, whereas Wolf 3D was a thing me and my dad played with the old-school computer speakers up whenever my mom went to bingo (Dad still refers to video game easy modes as "Can I Play, Daddy?"). My heart still gets pumping whenever I see a Wolfenstein boss (really should try to 100% that game one day)

Played everything up to Quake 3. Not really a bad game in there, so I just picked "Other" for least favourite as a non-vote. Doom and Quake are great an all but I have a soft spot for Wolfenstein 3D.

 

Wait, I kinda take that all back. Everything I said is basically true and Wolf 3D is a classic and all, except we forgot about Commander Keen. There's my favourite ❤️

I played the shit out of Commander Keen games on DOS as a kid.

There was a certain magic to 90s PC gaming.

Favorite:  Was a hard pick between Doom 2 and Doom 2016.  I gave it to Doom 2 because I've spent more time playing it collectively and it was one of the very first PC games I ever played (and was magical).  Mom didn't like me playing it at home on dad's PC so I'd play at my friends' house.

Least Favorite:  Quake Live.  I tried it out and just couldn't get into it.  I haven't played Rage or it would probably be in this spot.

I really did start off with Doom 2 primarily so I remember specifically when I went to play Doom that IDCLIP didn't work and I just thought there was no code.
