  1. Here’s one more I’ll have to add to my watch list. Not sure how I missed it the first time scrolling through the Crunchyroll lineup page!

    RoOT/Route of OddTaxi.

It's live action interpretation of OddTaxi. I liked the trailer. Should be fun.

I love how you still get to learn interesting little things about the other mages even when it's the last ep. Like how Serie called out the other one with the "you're probably drinking tea right now you mthfkr" XD like dude. That's ballsy af not to even be there at the actual mage test (possibly) this whole fucking time. And the small background story with Denken and his wife. And Serie being petty to ban Frieren from the ceremony :xd: Gotta love the cranky older elves.
Stark would make a great bard with how easy everyone is charmed by him.
Frieren with the stack of grimiores is me with books in general. *looks at TBR pile I currently have*

Overall I'm glad my friends talked me into giving this series another try. It was beautifully animated especially in the fight scenes. The subtle character interactions and how the relationships grow. I appreciate that FernxStark wasn't done over the top in their romance but just small things of their small attitude changes or facial expressions. Or how you knew Frieren and Fern would be in a "fight" from how they interacted.
I seriously hope we get another season since they are still on their way on their journey.

Yeah, I also liked how we were learning interesting tidbits about all the characters right until the end. I grew to like quite a few of the other test takers. So many good characters in this story in general.

I loved Fern’s choice of spell to learn from Serie. That’s so like her

And the last couple flashbacks to Frieren’s time with Himmel were perfect.

I would love to see another season—if all the same people are working on it. I know they teased at the end of the episode that the story continues, but I don’t think more anime has been announced. And Madhouse doesn’t seem to do a ton of sequels. The after-credits note might have just been to get people reading the manga… but I will still hope for more anime.

  3. Frieren #28 — No spoilers, but I’m general this episode felt like a very fitting ending to what I thought was a fantastic series. I loved the story and pretty much the whole cast. Madhouse did incredible work with the animation. I’m sad it’s over.

  4. So far this is what I have on my watch list for spring:

    • KonoSuba: It’s been long enough since the last season that I’m looking forward to seeing these characters in action again. Should be lots of laughs.
    • Kaiju No. 8: I keep saying I’m going to pick up the manga… then I never do it  So I will start with the anime and then continue with the manga wherever the anime leaves off.
    • Hibike! Euphonium Season 3: I am SO HYPED for this one! :shiny:  Absolutely loved the first two seasons
    • Bartender: Kami no Glass: Sounds like something I will enjoy.
    • Yoru no Kurage wa Oyogenai (Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night): Anime original by Doga Kobo. They’ve done some other originals that I enjoyed quite a bit. Sounds like something I might like based on the vague synopsis. Here’s hoping.

I’ll see if anything else be piques my interest on Crunchyroll. TBD.

  5. I have a Discord account that I never use due to a strong preference (and, let’s be honest, emotional attachment) for forums and IRC over Discord  :lurk: Maybe someday I’ll get over it and join the Center Discord…

edit: Having said all that, it’s never too late to come back to the boards @Lucy ! Come acknowledge our birthday wishes :D

  6. Starting to look ahead to the Spring season. There is some good stuff coming up! Rather than make a new thread for each season, I was thinking of renaming this one to “2024 Seasonal Anime” and just have one thread for the year. Any objections from you three?

  7. I’ve been enjoying Metallic Rouge a lot too. Lots of twists and turns to this story. I’ve found it hard to follow at times watching weekly. It will be a great binge-watch show once all 13 episodes are done.

The mimic gag never gets old in Frieren

Huh 28 is a weird number of episodes. I already caught up thinking it was done, but it still has 2 episodes.

    It's been really good though.

Yeah the first “half” of the series was a bit longer than usual. IIRC four episodes dropped all at once at the start of the Fall season. Not that I am complaining—I want more!

  9. Yeah I’m super curious about Shin’s apparent new technique in Sakamoto Days. Mind control??? Unless those last few panels were just a misdirection and it has nothing to do with Shin—that would be pretty fun

I totally agree re: the last chapter of Akane-banashi. What a beautiful thing. If Taizen doesn’t acknowledge that performance then I’m gonna be mega bummed out.

  10. You’ve gotta get caught up on some of this stuff @Psycho666Soldier

There has been lots of excitement in Sakamoto Days and Elusive Samurai. Akane just finished a thrilling performance in Akane-banashi. The latest Show-ha Shoten! continued Nazutani’s storyline in a really nice way. Beat & Motion is still awesome. Lots of good stuff in Jump right now! Not sure if you kept up with Choujin X but that series has been on a great roll for a while now too.

  11. You’re gonna enjoy the rest of Frieren! It’s been great.

A Sign of Affection keeps impressing me. It’s such a charming and heart-warming show. Feels so good to watch it every week  I am gonna be bummed out when it’s over.

  12. I am setting expectations low for the Jays. They didn’t do much in the off-season to improve the team. Really though, the biggest improvement would be for Vlad to play up to his potential. They should have been a better team last year and would have been if Vlad was hitting like in 2021.

I can see the Jays finishing 3rd or 4th in the AL East and missing the Wild Card. It feels like their narrow window of opportunity from a couple years ago might have closed already :-/

The O’s are likely going to be a problem this year. I could see them struggling a bit after their big surprise last summer, and I’m hoping they stumble a bit… but really they should be a strong team again, and for years to come.

The Rays always find a way to compete.

I’m not counting the Yankees out just yet.

And while I expect Boston to be a bad team this year, sometimes they can surprise you too.

There will also be more heated competition for the WC spots from ALC and ALW teams like last summer.

Overall my outlook isn’t great for Toronto this year. I hope to be proven wrong!

  13. DB Super #102 — We’re officially past the events of the Super Hero movie now. It hasn’t launched into a new story arc yet but I assume it will eventually. This was a fun “let’s see who’s stronger now” sparring chapter which is going to carry into at least one more chapter. I liked it.

  14. Frieren #23

Frieren falling for Mimics is never not funny  You see the joke coming a mile away and it’s still funny. I am really enjoying the First Class Mage Exam. The dungeon they’re all crawling through right now is great.
