    I thought I'd throw this topic out for a general "where is..." or "how do you..?" kind of deal and that I'd start it off with a few things in particular you might notice that are different.  A lot of you have not been on the forum in a while and may have missed the upgrade I did at the Center.  I'm copying this post from there to lay out the new shit.

     

    Editor Features

     

    Image Embedding

    If you're used to copying and pasting images or pasting links into img tags, know that all you need to do now is paste the link to the image and the board will automatically insert it into your post.  Very convenient.  For example, paste this:

    Get this (also you can grab the corners of pictures to resize them if you like :thumbs:):

    Video Embedding

    Embedding has even more options.  In general, pasting a link to a video or whatever will embed that thing onto the page.  Paste a link to Youtube, wait a second, and the Youtube video will appear in the post editor box for you.

     

    Emoticons

    If you haven't noticed already, emoticons will start filtering after you type the first colon in the emoticon and a few letters.  You can click the emoticon and it will instantly insert it.  Also worth noting...for some inexplicable reason, they're case sensitive.  So that's kind of annoying.  I might make separate ones for colon p and colon P as well as xd and XD for that reason.

     

    Double Click Items in Editor

    You can edit settings for things in the editor by double clicking on them (except for embeds).  I used this to edit the properties of the code box above as well as the properties on an image.  Could be handy.

     

    Quote Embedding

    If you want to quote a post with a quote in it and have both quotes, highlight everything and then use the "Quote This" button to quote it all INCLUDING the quote.  If you just hit the Quote button itself, it will not include the quotes in the post.

     

     

    Activity Feed

     

    Create Activity Streams

    You can create your own custom activity feeds AND then you can set that as the default that appears on the top right of the page next to the nav bar breadcrumb.  Go to Activity > My Activity Streams -> Create New Stream

    While editing your stream there is a button there to make it the default.  This will also translate to the open folder icon in mobile view.  I used the "Follow" buttons at the top of each forum to make a view that only shows topics from forums I followed.  This is good if you don't want to see things from say, the sports forum, all up in your feed.

     

    Manage Followed Content

    Also if you do end up messing with the "Follow" buttons, you can edit all the preferences in one place by going to the user menu up top with your name and going to "Manage Followed Content"
     

    Settings

     

    Avatar

    Change your avatar by going to your profile and clicking the "Profile Photo" image on the bottom left of your avatar.  Not immediately obvious.

     

    Signature

    Change your signature by going to the top left, clicking your name, then going to Account Settings > Signature.  In a stroke of actual logic, there is also a setting here to disable viewing signatures.  You may also hide individual's signatures by clicking the X to the right of the signature area.  You may also hide ALL signatures from the same place.

     

    Notifications

    I recommend taking a look at all your notification settings here.  There are a few new ones and some others got reset (like getting a notification when someone reacts to your posts).

     

    Skin Selector

    Look for "Theme" at the bottom of the forum to change your theme.  I forgot to enable the Nostalgia skin for everyone and just turned that on a few minutes ago. :blush:

     

    Background Image (Nostalgia Skin)

    You can change the background from a blank black background to one of the built in background images by clicking the "Change Background Image" icon at the end of the left side of the top bar.

    Misc

     

    Closing Polls

    I've added the ability for you to CLOSE a poll thereby allowing the topic to remain open but at the same time letting you stop votes in the poll.  I don't not believe this function existed on the older version.

     

    Search

    The new search not allows queries of less than 4 characters.  You can search for short words and have them included and it will even try to branch out and match parts of words or pluralize them.  Should work considerably better.

     

    ISO Button

    This button is used to see all posts in the current topic by the current member.  Extremely useful if we do Mafia.  I created this feature out of thin air!  ENJOY IT!!!

     

     

    That's all I can think of right now off the top of my head.  If you have more questions, ask away.  No requests here, keep those in the other topic.  This is strictly for Q&A and not for spam (let's keep this neat so people can reference it).  I will try to incorporate any additional questions and answers at the top of this post to make it easier for newcomers.

    That all sounds pretty likely and I'm cool with it.  Quantum Realm and Negative Zone don't really have to be separate things.  Reed can still find a way to fly around there eventually. :D

    Whatup.  I missed everyone that doesn't like the way the other forum runs so I made this one.  Rest of y'all should make some fresh meat topics to reintroduce yourselves, especially those that have been away a while.  I love you all. :heart:

     

    What's new with me in the last little while?

     

    Got married to Jovanna.  She's awesome.  A hell of a lot more relaxed than my ex and also a professional event planner (going on vacations with her is fucking awesome).

     

    I visited Europe on the honeymoon.  Got to meet a bunch of the Londish there. :heart: Basically one of my lifelong dreams (not being sarcastic) along with you know, actually seeing Europe. :rotfl:

     

    I just had a babbo.  Her name is Luna.  We somewhat named her after Luna Lovegood but I also got her a stuffed Luna cat from Sailor Moon.  It's awesome and she's awesome.  I'm on leave for 4 months from work.  Going back May 20th.  Seems like I'd have a lot of free time but I do not.  If the baby is awake, she requires constant attention. :P

     

    So yeah hi. :D

    I meant a completely new set of X-Men (not the current incarnation just showing up).  I just don't want the Fantastic Four and X-Men to be newbies to the MCU that were just discovered or whatever because that would be annoying.

     

    I like your ideas though.  Similar to what I had in mind.  The other one, for the Fantastic Four that I've seen floated before, is that they go into the negative zone or something and then get stuck there for a long time (like Janet in Ant Man).

    They're be insane to not make some kind of nod about the X-Men somehow.  I'm really hoping however they fix this issue has the consequence of the X-Men and FF suddenly having always been part of the universe or something. :lurk:

    Welcome to the new forum! :jumboshiny:

    The purpose of this forum is to be somewhere a little more controlled, fun, and generally free from annoyance and angry topics.  As you start posting, keep a few things in mind:

    • To keep that care free attitude going, this board bans any and all political, religious, and any related discussions.  These types of topics have historically proven extremely contentious and offputting (in other words it makes us all hate each other), and we're going to avoid them completely on this board.  Don't bring up these topics, don't make jokes about them, just find something else.  There is WAY too much anger on every side of these discussions and we've had all the ones we can have.  Continuing to reference politics with jokes and whatnot is just going to irritate people so don't.
      • On that point, if you still wish to have these discussions, please, keep visiting the Center.  This board is meant to be a companion to that board but separate and run in an entirely different way.
    • We're going to have stricter rules than we've had in the past regarding the content of posts.  Don't troll people, avoid off color remarks, and while I understand that everyone has their own sense of humor, in the interests of the community, let's just clean it up.  You can curse and all that shit if you like, but try and keep it calm.  Don't scream curse words at each other, make disparaging jokes, and if someone says "hey I don't like that" then just stop saying it.  If you need to let loose somewhere, The Center is the place for it.  You can shitpost to your heart's desire over there.  That's the general idea, but we'll try and decide upon the official rules as a community as we go.
    • MT and I will be asking for and assigning some mods to get us up and running.  I can't police the place by myself, though I doubt it should need much, and I want to make sure things stay relaxed and that people who are purposely annoying get banned.  This is the closest thing to a safe relaxing space we can get so I want to keep it that way.  An alternative for the folks that don't want to deal with the lawless nature of The Center!
      • There will likely not be a mod forum.  I'm going to avoid the whole "inner circle" stuff we've gone through in the past.  If you are made a mod, it's because I trust your judgement and I need help keeping things clean.
      • On that note, if you have a post deleted, a mod will reach out to you to tell you why.  Don't argue about it.  Take it in stride and understand that this board is meant to be a forum free from the usual off-putting behavior we've had in the past.  I want this place to lure back people that gave up posting because they didn't want to deal with it anymore.  If that's too much for you, you're more than welcome to keep posting at The Center.  No hard feelings.  This may not be for everyone just like The Center is not for everyone.  The beauty of the 2 forum setup is that you can stick with the one that matches your personality and needs more or do both.
    • Please keep your avatars clean.  No porn, gore, or shocking imagery of any kind.  If you wish to put stuff in your signatures, we can work with you to an extent but definitely no porn either way.  It's quite simple to hide signatures of people that you don't like to see the signatures of (click the little x under their post and hide their signature), so you can probably just go ahead and hide a few people right out of the gate. :P
    • The place is still going through some changes.  As of this posting that I'm putting up in advance, I'm still working on extra features (like intensify and vote) as well as getting all the emoticons up and going.  It might take a little bit.  I might not even pull the rip cord on this until we're done.  Either way, I'll also make a topic for suggestions and issues.  Keep an eye out.  It'll be pinned in the Tech Center forum (or whatever we decide to call it who knows).

    So in closing...
