    Yeah, that's why I took a break after Stardust Crusaders too. Needed a break after binging the previous parts. I am really enjoying Diamond is Unbreakable now after having taken a break from JJBA. It feels fresher again.

    I actually went back and read chapters 119 and 120 and it had a whole different tone and meaning behind it knowing that X is actually Rion.  Or absorbed her consciousness or something.  The way they mentioned Akira helping them "change" comes off a bit like it's a split personality sort of thing, but where both personalities are legit consciousnesses of both people.  Curious.

     

    Yeah, that's what I'm curious to get some more explanation about... Has X actually somehow absorbed Rion's personality or consciousness or, like, I dunno... merged with her somehow ?

    I decided this week to pick up on JoJo's Bizarre Adventure again. Started on Diamond is Unbreakable a few days ago and I'm nearly 40 chapters into it. I'm enjoying it quite a bit so far. But it does seem to continue the trend of "Here's another stand user, and here's another stand user, and another..." that got tired for me in Stardust Crusaders. It's a bit of a quantity vs. quality imbalance problem IMO. But so far in Diamond is Unbreakable, I have most enjoyed the new stand users that have been introduced. Hopefully it stays that way.

    The Jays have 7 games still against the O's. They start a 4-game series today, and then a 3-gamer mid-August. A strong performance in these 7 games could help the Jays move up the standings. I am not setting my hopes very high, because the Jays have been so frustrating this season... but I would love to see them pick up a bunch of wins against Baltimore! Tampa has been bad in July but I feel like they'll turn it around before long. They always seem to find a way.

     

    Trade action is starting to pick up. The Jays got Hicks from the Cards -- finally some serious heat in the bullpen! The Angels are making a few moves. Hard to see them really making a strong postseason push... but it would be a cool thing to see Trout and Ohtani playing into October. And the Mets are doing some kinda rebuild / re-tool. I think it's smart to get out of the Max Scherzer business now. Might as well cash in on Verlander too. They could turn things around pretty quick with the right trade returns, maybe be competitive again in another year or two if all the stars align.

    More good stuff in The Elusive Samurai, but it feels like things went a bit too easily... Waiting for the other shoe to drop :uhoh: 

     

    This week's new chapters of Wild Strawberry and Chainsaw Man were good stuff too. I have pretty high hopes for Wild Strawberry, but you never know. Let's see next week what this new character is all about.

    Stray Dogs #3 (#53 overall I think?)

     

    OK, this space-and-time bending sword is too OP. No wonder this guy is so damn strong, he can lose and then replay it and win. How the heck do you beat that!? Surely there is a way, and one of the good guys will figure it out before long... but fuck that's lame. Hope they beat him soon.

    Thank Jesus they are not trading him. That would have been the worst look ever. Looks like they even picked up Giolito from the ChiSox. I'd love to see Ohtani and Trout go on a deep run in October.

    Jays took two of three this week at Dodger Stadium. Should have been a sweep but they blew it last night. We will not talk about what took place in Seattle last weekend :lurk: 

     

    Toronto host the Angels this coming weekend. Kinda thinking about trying to snag a couple tix to see Ohtani play... but I am so broke right now :-/ Probably just watching on TV.

    YT algorithm keeps recommending this to me, I keep ignoring it, finally today I gave in and watched. These dudes are something else. Very heavy. Very tight. Very good! Wish I had watched it sooner. The whole set is really good :music:

    Caught up to speed on Zom 100. It's pretty good! Various thoughts on the first three episodes:

     

    - I love this dude's dedication to hating his job (but still doing it anyways -- I know that feel! :lol:)
    - I really liked how they were playing with monochrome and then colour in the first episode
    - Hey Akira, it's a bad idea to fall in love with every cute girl you meet! (But at least it's looking like the girl from the convenience store will pan out to be a good friend in the end)
    - I love this notion of a bucket list of things to do before becoming a zombie, that's my kind of morbid humour :nod: 
    - I have mixed feelings about Kencho, but I hope he turns out to be a cool dude now that Akira has saved him

    Don't mess with Nightfall! :uhoh: 

     

    Meant to come back to this post yesterday and expand on it a bit...

     

     

    There were some seriously rad panels in this week's chapter. Nightfall wrecked Wheeler :rip: Some of the looks on her face :uhoh: This chapter definitely left me wanting more. I wonder if Yuri is going to try to get back on their trail or if he's really out of commission...

    IIRC, I started lurking and then posting a little bit on the DBZ Center boards when I was in grade 10, so sometime in 2000. Wow that feels like a long time ago now :rip: 

     

    I have to say, it's great seeing some more activity around this place the last couple days! Now what do we gotta do to get Ma to come back???

    That is the right thing to say, for sure. And I hope they do whatever it takes to make D4 players happy in general again. But I guess it's kind of a believe-when-we-see-it kind of situation :lol:
