Another record setting day in Ontario...

I played Memories of Celceta on the Vita a few years ago. Great game I've been wanting to pick up VIII for Switch, it's been on sale on the eShop a few times, but I'd probably never have time to actually play it edit: In fact Ys VIII is on sale right now as part of NISA's New Year 2021 sale... Lots of interesting stuff on sale right now

I'm putting it off to January 2022 it's called dry January after all. Wouldn't be right to do it in February.

I polished off Cat's Eye this week. Now that the NBA is back in full swing, I'll probably give the oldies a break because I'm gonna have basketball on the TV most evenings (unless COVID derails the season )

IIRC she's just as obnoxious in the manga at this point in the story, the anime doesn't really make her worse I don't think. She'll continue to be hard-to-like for a while yet... but she does experience some real character growth eventually! Who knows, you might still hate her in the end anyhow, but I think most people's opinions will come around at least a little bit on her later on.

It's gonna get worse before it gets better. Time to hunker down and stop going out for a while except for groceries and booze. I toyed with the idea of a "Dry January" this year, but to hell with that

Headline today: Ontario reports record-high 2,923 new COVID-19 cases as ICU admissions reach pandemic high Great, we're going for 3000 cases a day The government keeps telling people to stay home, etc., etc., and a lockdown came into effect on Dec. 26th (which seems rather late given the way things were trending) but I don't think these measures will actually solve much. The best part is that apparently Ontario's Finance Minister has been away on holiday in St. Barts since the legislature took their break mid-December. Whoops! That ain't a good look for him or the government. Finance Minister is usually on of the top dogs in government. Dude might have just committed career suicide. When you've got the Premier, Health Minister, etc. reminding people everyday to only travel for essential purposes and then a key member of the government takes off on a Caribbean vacation, people are gonna get mad.

Christmas is over and I'm back on the super-worried about / couldn't-care-less about COVID-19 rollercoaster ride. Leaning more towards worried right now since we started a lockdown on Boxing Day and case counts remain high, so it will be a few weeks at least before I go through the next bout of pandemic fatigue. We were careful through the holidays and didn't see anybody, which was actually pretty damn nice and relaxing; I might do Christmas like this again next year. But I'm sure quite a few people out there thought, "You can't keep us from our family Christmas traditions" and still did stuff anyways. It's could be a fun () 1-2 weeks watching the cases continue to climb We also got the new COVID variant goin' on here in Ontario. Is it really that hard to just do the quarantine thing after you return to the country? Two weeks isn't that long, is it..?

I got my kiddo Taiko no Tatsujin Rhythmic Adventure Pack for Christmas, so I gotta get started playing it soon.

I'm not sure if we can play online. I think I cancelled Switch Online. I'll have to look into that... sounds like fun! The duck is almost done and looks and smells pretty amazing

My daughter loves Taiko no Tatsujin so I got her the Rhythmic Adventure Pack for Christmas. She also got art supplies and books and some other random stuff. The toddler got board books and magnetic shapes that you can build stuff with and and music-making toy. We're roasting a duck tonight. It's gonna be gooooood None of us are crazy about turkey. Normally that's what we'd be eating tonight if we went to Christmas at my sister's house (because that's where my mum spends Christmas every year) but we'd never cook a turkey just for ourselves.

If she can go home today then I'm assuming her recovery is going fairly well so far..? Take good care of her while she's on the mend!

I'm not sure. The cynic in me assumes the reason is to maximize merch sales before the change comes into effect. I think they've stopped putting the Chief Wahoo logo on all their hats and jerseys, but a quick look at their official store website still shows a lot of jerseys with "Indians" across the chest.

I didn't really read all of the details at the time the news broke. Apparently they're dropping the name *after* the 2021 season. I guess some folks are gonna be mad about that. If they're dropping the name, just do it right away like other teams have.

This season is gonna be a wild ride

That's pretty cool. Not that I'll be watching much, but I like the idea of a shorter schedule too. 82 feels like too much. With half the league making the playoffs, they don't need to play that many games to figure which teams should make the cut. And playoff hockey is far more interesting. Shorten the regular season and get ib to the good stuff.

I'll have to look at the chapter list again to be sure, but I think chapter 135 + 3 more chapters will make 1 more volume (usually 4 chapters per volume) so chapter 138 would be a nice place to wrap it up.

CR's website and apps are all pretty crummy, but I still use it to read AoT. It's easy (when it works). Feels like we're nearing the end now. I wonder how many chapters are left to go.
