    What listen ?

Had this one on repeat for days now. Working hard on learning the bass line. I'll never be able to play it like The Ox, but I will get as close as I can...
  2. After riding the nostalgia high of listening to pillows songs over and over again last week after I finished FLCL Progressive, I went ahead and re-watched the original FLCL again (for the second time this month ) Doesn't matter than I had just re-watched it like a week before, I loved every second of it. After that, I moved on to FLCL Alternative. I think I liked Progressive a bit better overall, but Alternative was alright. Neither are on the same level as the original, but both sequels had elements I enjoyed. Progressive had a stronger finish than Alternative IMO. Before I move on to something else from my old to-watch list, I gotta watch the Hathaway movie, and maybe that new anime movie on Netflix (soda pop something or other?)

There was nothing new this past Sunday (that I'm reading) on the Jump app except one shorter-than-usual chapter of Spy X Family...

    Summer Anime 2021

I’m basically watching nothing this summer. Aquatope, and then catching up on some old stuff. We’ll finish Digimon too, we’re just a few weeks behind.

The first ‘season’ is only four chapters so there’s not that much there to check out. I read them while I was bored watching my daughter do her swimming lessons this week

    [Manga Chat]

Yeah it's fun watching this group of characters come together and I am intrigued about what's up with the villains. Unrelated: I read Burn the Witch this week. I dunno why, just something to do I guess. It had some amusing and interesting elements, but that's about it. Apparently it is following a seasonal release schedule, so I think we're due soon for another mini-series of chapters, continuing from chapter #4. The first 'season' was August-September 2020... though I guess those chapters came closer to 2 years after the original one-shot.. so maybe the next run won't be as soon as I'm assuming. Whenever a new chapter pops up in the Jump app, I'll check it out.

Yeah it looks like we’re transitioning very quickly from triumph to tragedy in the next chapter

Finally got around to checking out The Hunter's Guild: Red Hood today. That first chapter was great. I'll definitely be reading more

    Sports Docus Pocus

Shattered #7 is revisiting all the more recent goings-on and tragedy. The KP trade to clear all that cap space, Knicks fans being convinced that KD and Kyrie were coming _and_ dreaming on a #1 lottery pick to land Zion. Didn’t quite play out that way I was listening to a lot of basketball podcasts at this time, but I had forgotten many of the details. It’s fun reliving it.

    Sports Docus Pocus

They talk quite a bit about The Decision in 2010, the team’s sales pitch to LeBron, etc. What a mess I expect they’ll touch on KD and Kyrie going to Brooklyn in a later episode. They’re working chronologically. I’m into the mid-2010’s now. I think they’ll be getting into all the Porzingis stuff next episode.

I’m about halfway through Shattered and it’s great. Chuck D is an awesome narrator. Dolan is a pretty terrible owner overall. I more or less knew the Knicks have been a shitshow for a long time now, but it’s pretty fascinating to hear all the details.

    Gundam Thread

Gundam Wing holds a special place in my heart no matter what, but… really it’s not even close to the best of what the Gundam universe has to offer (IMO). You should definitely finish watching the original series. And then move along to Zeta, etc.

    Gundam Thread

The first Gundam Build Fighters series was actually quite solid overall. Some classic moments in there. Some people look at it (and the sequel series) as just a big ad for Gunpla... and I guess there's some truth to it... but Build Fighters, to me at least, felt like a tribute to all things Gundam. I think it's worth a look for any Gundam fan. Stop after that first series though. Build Fighters Try was OK-ish I guess, but it was a drop off and then it only got worse from there. I think I made it through Build Fighters Divers but quit on Re:Rise...

Thanks for the reminder, I still haven't watched the first Hathaway movie... maybe tonight! I wonder if/when we'll get another new TV series. It's been years now since IBO ended, which I enjoyed a lot. I'd like to see another totally new series. I guess they're still working on the G-Reco movies right now, and of course Hathaway. It would be nice if they have something planned for when all those movies are done.

Dr. Stone # 205 — I think I have a new favourite character Candy Flurry # 13 — Making me wait another week for the really good stuff… The exchange between Misaki and the intruder was kind of amusing though. Not much excitement in the latest chapter of The Elusive Samurai, but it expanded on the supernatural stuff that started to get introduced in the previous chapter. Background / world-building. I think it’s pretty cool. There is a new one-shot from the Chainsaw Man creator. It’s long-ish so I haven’t opened it up yet, but I will start on it one night this week.

    What listen ?

I’m going to be on a heavy pillows kick for at least a few more days. Feeling pretty nostalgic tonight…
  22. I finished FLCL Progressive tonight. I went in with rather low expectations — didn’t want to get my heart broken — but in the end I enjoyed it quite a bit. The first two or three episodes were just okay. I was not totally in love with it like the original FLCL, but it was okay. I think the fourth episode was where it really hit it’s stride for me. From there on out it was pretty darn great. Overall it was good. Not life-changing-good like the original, but very solid. It was not a bad sequel that tarnished the original for me. (Phew! ) the pillows are still fantastic. Some the new tracks were great, and I love that they busted out some of the classics too like “Last Dinosaur” and “I Think I Can” It kills me how good this song is

    Steam Deck

Hmm... I gotta say, I'm kinda interested! I will not be spending 500 (or more) of my hard-earned Canadian funbucks on one any time soon. But if this thing takes off a bit and isn't just discontinued after a few months then I might actually consider it someday...
