Sounds like a bad combo indeed. I'd totally FAQ my way through it too. (If I'm being honest, these days with time constraints and an increasingly short attention span, I will use walkthroughs on most RPGs... )

I think the last episode alluded to the sick older sister having imparted some knowledge on people..?

Popped up in my recommendations on Netflix last week so I checked it out. Violet Evergarden was a real hit for me, so I figured why not try another Netflix anime. Didn't take long for me to get sucked in, and I just finished last night. The wife even watched parts of it with me and started getting into it. (She's usually more of the, "Why are you still watching cartoons " type so that kinda took me by surprise) Netflix is still batting 1.000 with me Anybody else watch this? What'd you think? It's apparently been renewed for a second season, so keep an eye out.

Yeah, really great animation. I'm happy if Netflix wants to throw as much money as possible at good studios and directors The story was a bit hard to follow at first, maybe a bit unnecessarily complicated, but it all came together for me eventually. I love a good mystery so the detective parts were very interesting to me too. Gilbert was one fucked up dude

I'm not a big Zelda fan aside from maybe 2 or 3 of the games, so I'm probably biased, but to me that sounds like the description of any older Zelda game I gotta get going in Diablo again. Not enough time in the day...

Her new album dropped a few days ago, Anak Ko. It's pretty darn good! For those unfamiliar: She basically does what people "bedroom pop" or "dream pop", which I guess when you listen feels like an appropriate genre name; although this latest effort is perhaps a bit less lo-fi. I haven't read the credits for Anak Ko, but I know on previous albums she's played a lot of the parts (guitar, bass, drums) on several tracks. As a wannabe-multi-instrumentalist, I really appreciate the DIY approach. She does tour with a band though and maybe they got to play more on this album. I dunno. Any other fans out there?

I dunno man, the Dodgers are so good. Kinda hard to believe this Dodger team hasn't won a World Series... But you're right, if anybody is going to give them a hard time then it looks like it would be the Braves (right now at least...)

Bit of a rough stretch for the Jays lately, but you can't fault them for losing to the Dodgers. LAD has too many good players - they can't fit them all in the lineup. Such a stacked team. Nice to see a win last night though. Bo is the best.

Been too busy with my guitars and catching up on anime in the evenings. Haven't had a chance to keep going in Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon. So that's on the todo list for the weekend.

I can't tell if I'm watching this show because I genuinely enjoy it or if I'm just hate-watching I like some of the developments at the village but I would also like to get Taiju and Yuzuriha back into the story.
-
Taiju is the best character in this whole show

Are you watching any classic anime right now? What does interest you when it comes to anime? Get a thread going to tell us all about it

I did a summer job at UPS during college. I processed packages going Canada->U.S., checking that the waybills were completed correctly, etc. Night shifts, 8pm-4am IIRC, all summer long. Tedious as hell but I had some cool coworkers at least. After I graduated, I did some shitty sales jobs (call centre, door to door) for a bit to pay the bills while I focused on music. But then I settled into a job with an office services company for the next few years. Started on a night shift working on a digitization project at an financial firm. Night after night of scanning and QCing boxes upon boxes of their customers' records. Then I moved to a day shift at a corporate office as team lead of the mailroom / print room. Pay wasn't great but that was such a fun job. We did a bit of everything there. Then 8 years doing volunteer work on education development projects in Vietnam. Moved back to Canada in 2016 and got a job doing outside sales. Not exactly what I had hoped for, but overall it's a pretty good gig.

You never had Zelda back in the day? Or just never beat it back then? I had a pretty decent collection of NES games when I was little but for some reason or another never got Zelda. I must have rented it at some point...

Thinking back to the classics, Contra has always been a favourite of mine. Super C is one of my all-time top games.
-
I never had a Super Scope but I did have Mario Paint with the mouse and pad. That was a super fun game to play around in.
-
I was pretty hyped about it for a while there, but a couple years ago I just never got around to watching the new episodes and i guess I never felt like I was missing anything Started feeling like the show was going to go in too long for my looking.

The only TV shows I used to bother with were Homeland and The Walking Dead. I think I'm 2-3 years behind on both. Probably won't ever bother picking them up again. I'm also not a big movie person... so I guess I'm all caught up! But I'm sure there's a pretty long list of anime I still want to see eventually.

How many episodes of something do you have to watch in a row (and for how many days in a row?) in order to consider it binge watching?

We should all post more about baseball

I'm gonna be rocking the Purple Mountains album and the Silver Jews discography all week. David Berman killed himself earlier this month, I think it wasn't even a month after the Purple Mountains album dropped.

C64/DOS games at my cousin's house, and then Mario Bros./Duck Hunt on another relative's NES. Died right away but I was hooked My folks bought me an NES shortly after that first experience with Mario.

Recently: The answer might be the Project Diva games. I've gotten so much entertainment value out of these games. All-time: Probably Mario Bros. Honorable mention to Final Fantasy.
