  1. Out of a few series that came back that i'm excited for (Apothecary Diaries)

One of the new stuff has so far been good. Zenshu is another isekai-like series. Famous animator dies from food poisoning on her current production and gets sent to the world of the 1st anime that inspired her career. Animation is gorgeous, story seems like a nice different approach to the isekai genre. It's solid so far.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice definitely felt like they had 2 movies that they decided to smash into 1. Like, it wasn't even a matter of them not having quite enough story for either. Those were two potentially full length movies that could have each been solid in their own right and they just went 'fuck it' and squished them both into one 2 hour movie. X_x

Also, Betelgeuse kind of got the shaft in that movie. Like, he may be a bit of a dick, but he absolutely did everything he promised to on good faith, and Lydia getting out of the contract was the obvious outcome, but also banishing him feels like a dick move. The child in me wanted them to buddy up and segue into something akin to what the animated series was back in the day. XD

Agreed, there was too many "baddies" that I think were overlapping and didn't have any strong confrontation that made the end solutions feel just kinda meh. Especially when they had a strong beginning with the Dead Ex and she became an afterthought at the end. Other than that I gave it a solid 8/10

    Spoiler

The fake love interest for Astrid I think wasn't needed in there. Pretty sure they could have found a way to get her to the Neitherworld without the ol bait n switch.
While banishing him might have felt like a dick move, I think it might have been since she was so traumatized of having him nudge at her mentally when she didn't have her meds to shut him and other deadites out on top of all he did when she was younger that she said 'fuck that'. So might be why they didn't go that route of making the animated series cannon. But like you pointed out they had too much jagged bits of story to throw in there that could have been something they just couldn't flush out better.
Funny enough I'm re-watching the animated series because Tubi has it on and I forgot how much I missed this. And also how much better their budget was for the Opening animation by season 4 XD

  3. Apparently this hit Hulu so i just finished watching. Overall i liked it. Some parts were predictable but not in the ways i thought story wise and some bits did help explain my initial confusion from the trailer. Bill Skarsgárd did great as a role where he didn't have dialogue and having to emote. Actions scenes were great and extra gruesome. Good cast, fun jokes here and there. Good stuff.

  4. Saw the new Beetlejuce Beetlejuice sequel. Solid 8/10 overall and it pretty much met my expectations. Not horrible.

Only real complaint I had is that I think there was just 1 too many bad guy scenarios happening and none of them had any hard difficulty levels of taking care of them in the end. The fake love interest with Astrid was kinda unnecessary, the ex-wife's plot just got left in the afterthought dust even though she had a strong start and good segue of doing some Beetlejuice backstory.

Otherwise all the original cast minus Charles was still top notch. I'm glad they were able to use Charles without needing the actor and the practical effects were well done. Great casting for the rest, music was good. I enjoyed it a lot.

  5. I finally watched Lisa Frankenstein yesterday. And I was expecting some fun kooky stuff but some of it was "damn, okay we...we're going there". Ending also felt a little off but overall I liked it!

  6. If it's anything like how I started being a backup book keeper at work. Which I've had NO prior experience with or anything. (And I fucking hate math.) Once you learn everything you can, have all the notes down, and start getting a rhythm/routine going of the Ins and Outs. I'm sure you'll have it down pat.

  7. Just got home from my round of it with friends first thing this morning. OMG fucking perfection.

    Spoiler

Okay glad I wasn't the only one weirded out about Deadpool prying apart Wolverine's skeleton in the opening creds. Still a fucking great fight scene, but yea..yea...
Loved all the fucking cameos. Cavilline will be engraved into my brain for sweet dreams now. Elektra was the only one I wasn't really big on but that's a personal meh for me. Movie itself was bad as well as Jennifer Garters acting itself. But I know it made sense to put her in it for the obvious reasons we pointed out. If anything, while they did do flashback footage. I'm legit surprised we didn't get "Turrible Wade Wilson that Deadpool goes back in time to kill in the Wolvrine movie (or Xmen, or whichever one he came from. The mouth stitched one with X's over his eyes) in the Dead Parade of Deadpools.

1 small silly gripe my friend had after it all was that a lot of the jokes seemed to be targeted for folks who know all the shit that happens not only with the Bromance of Hugh and Ryan, or things they did in their careers, but pretty much anything about their lives or things you learn doing internet deep dives. Like I didn't know that Hugh Jackman actually had a divorce from his wife because I personally don't do the whole info stalking on celebs a lot. But even then I felt I gripped a lot of the jokes just fine.

  8. The series itself came out....I wanna say last year? but the current 2nd part of S2 was the most recent addition and just have tissues ready for that ending if you haven't gotten there yet.

OH! Lucy shared this in our discord AND I'M SO FUCKING EXCITED

Yeah, it took me a while to be more comfortable with acknowledging some things, and the pronouns were one of them.

And that is legit. 1 of my friends who has been transitioning played around with small things to get a feel of how comfortable it made them feel. From just name changes, to pronouns (to which no surprise in my group she decided to take ALL of them lol but most of us will do the she/her+they/them) and just other little things that became a bigger part once it felt right. They even have a FB group support page called Labels Rejected: Positivity Corner. It's activity status is pretty mellow but it's a great place for sharing stuff or just needing a good vibe in the community.

I'm so excited for your journey here on out. And like we said in the Discord. When you're ready to come out to your fam, I really hope they respond positively. Otherwise you still got us!

  10. So I watched Madam Web on Netflix and sad to say....wasn't impressed. I know I'm getting to a point of the Marvel stuff beyond what I've read in the past but from what 1 friend was talking to me about it last night and just my initial impression. I hate that they pretty much underplayed the whole thing.

  11. At ep 5 of Re:Monster. I think i might put this one on the backburner and come back to it as a filler when i got nothing else to watch. It's an ok series. They try to play it similar to Slime Datta Ken with world building, RPG stats stuff and fun characters. Leans on the gruesome a but kinda like Goblin Slayer in battles and such. But there's no hint any key storyline and the blips they hand out get overshadowed by

    1. Fan service of the harem trope

    2. Treating the day to day like a diary which was haha funny like Among Us vibes but got old.

    3. Basically it's just seeing how Super Saiyan we can stack this Goblin with God-mod abilities.
