  1. Holy fuck did they botch the ending. It legit caused me emotional damage and made the rest of the episode hard to sit through.

There's SOME reasoning behind Julia's turn but not enough to make it believable. Making her evil is just fucking stupid all around. The only way that makes it believable is because of how quickly she decided she fell in love with Spike. She's not a total damsel in distress type, but for her to go to 100% evil was just ridiculous. Keeping Vicious alive DOES set up for a second season (which we'll never get, but still) at least. The scene with Ed wasn't too bad, although her wig was god awful. How she randomly ended up with Ein is something that doesn't really make sense, but also could've been explored had there been a second season, I guess.

I enjoyed most of what I watched, but there were a lot of choices that just plain didn't make any sense. The actors they got to play the characters were great, although the way Vicious was written was just off the entire time. They nailed the vibe, and the music was awesome. I might've given season 2 a shot because of how much I love the source material, but some time would've had to pass between me watching the first and second seasons so I could move on past what bugged me.

  2. I'm still enjoying it overall, but I think episode 8 is where it's starting to lose me a bit.

The actor they got to portray Pierre did an amazing job, but giving him more of a backstop wasn't really necessary. Him having a military background just doesn't really fit with the character. That or him being able to control Ein. It was a neat concept, but felt really out of place. I remember his episode in the anime being way more tragic, even though they tried to go for a similar ending, it didn't have nearly as much of an impact.

Smaller side note, but why did that Mao lady tell Vicious that Julia wanted him dead? How could she not realize how much danger that puts Julia in, for no reason other than for Mao to have a "you're not safe" style final line.

Also, THEY DUMPED EIN!? Why? Saw some people in the reddit thread saying it might've been a way for him to come back with Ed, but now I guess we'll never know.

  3. Boy was I totally unprepared for that body horror shit in episode 4. I watched it before bed, thankfully it didn't give me nightmares.

Also, I saw it pointed out somewhere (I think reddit) that the guy playing Jet also played Bushmaster in season 2 of Luke Cage. Blew my mind

An interesting re-telling of the games, with characters from the 3D games at the start of a new timeline that weren't originally. Some new twists and turns, and the final chapter was pretty cool.

You fight a lot of variants of characters combined with other characters. One I fought was a combo of Shao Kahn and Sub-Zero called Shao Zero, and another was Sindel mixed with Reptile (her name wasn't as cool, Lizard Queen or something like that) which was neat. It makes me wish there were a way to do that in game, but I know that'd be a nightmare to try and put together.

  5. I'm two episodes into this and i'm liking it so far. My only real complaint is the guy they got to play Vicious. Not in the way he acts, but I always thought Vicious was more of a pretty boy, and this guy definitely isn't. The guy they got to play Jet sounds a lot like him at times, which is great. I'm liking John Cho as Spike so far, and I haven't seen enough of Faye to really form an opinion just yet.

Watching this does make me really want to re-watch the anime, I think it's probably been over a decade since i've seen it beginning to end. I may wait until I finish this version first though.

Been trying to complete this run for about two months now and finally did it tonight, while streaming so there's actual video evidence of it. I had already been playing for an hour when I decided to do one more run, and it turned out to be worth it. Next is probably the cosmic ocean, which has a lot of the same steps as this Hundun run does, but with an added challenge of bringing a crossbow with you through a bunch of levels. Might take a break for a while, but i'm glad I was finally able to get it done.

  7. Uncharted

it was fun for what it was, once you don't worry about it not being based on any of the game stories. There were some fun action sequences, especially the final one. I wish they picked someone other than Mark Wahlberg to play Sully, it's too hard to think of him as anything but Mark Wahlberg.

Neat little puzzle game, but I was ready for it to end a bit earlier than it did. Basically you're in this simulation and are able to pick up photographs, hold them in front of you, and any walls/ground/etc in that picture (once you place it) becomes a physical object. Like if you had a photo of a long walkway that curves off to the left, and in front of you there's a platform out in front and to the left of you, you can place that picture there and then you're able to walk to the platform. There's other similar mechanics I won't spoil, but it was a neat idea that (to me anyway) wore out it's welcome a little earlier than I would've liked.

  9. Gran Turismo

Wasn't really excited about seeing it, but my partner and his friend are big into driving so we all went to see it. It was enjoyable for what it was, outside of it being 100% predictable. The driving scenes were really well done, and it had some cool shots of the action, but it's definitely not a movie anyone should rush out to see. I also didn't realize it was based on a true story.

  10. I totally forgot this was supposed to be the first half until about a minute left in the movie. I absolutely loved this, and the second part can't come fast enough (which probably won't be a while thanks to the writer's strike), but it was fun catching all the little references to Spider-Man history, from seeing the animated Spectacular Spider-Man, to Miles' Uncle Aaron from the MCU, and all sorts of other dope stuff.

  11. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem

Such a great movie, I loved every second of it. The turtles felt like actual brothers in this movie, and they nailed everyone's characters so god damn well. I'd heard the actors playing the TMNT were in the recording booth at the same time to make them riffing off of each other pretty natural. Lots of good pop culture references, without seeming like they were trying to hard to fit them in. Paul Rudd as Mondo Gecko was a fucking awesome choice, and i'm really looking forward to the sequel. My only real "complaint":

Is that Baxter Stockman didn't become the fly character. I think it's sort of implied the baby fly and Baxter sort of merged together with the mutagen, kind of like he did at the end with all the animals in the park. I'm assuming it was so they could have a bad guy that dies off and not have it "wasted" on a character like Baxter.

  12. Fast 9, or F9 or whatever it's called

This series has been over the top for a bit now, but I think it may have fully jumped the shark in this one. They actually had the audacity to mention sticking to the laws of physics in one later scene, when 90% of the stuff they've done earlier in the film totally throws physics out the window. It was enjoyable for a stupid shut your brain off type movie, but I couldn't shut mine off enough I guess.

I didn't hate it. It was fine. Mismanaged. Story focused on wrong things. Basically the same sort of missteps we've been seeing more and more with Marvels stuff it feels like.

I think a lot of the problem I had was (and I understand why this wasn't a thing) that the skrulls,

outside of Rhodey, didn't really hide as anyone important. If Hawkeye or Black Widow or one of the other Avengers had turned out to be a skrull it may have been more interesting,

but there's almost no way that was going to happen. I don't really know what could have been done differently, though.
