Ballerina
A John Wick spinoff that takes place between 3 and 4. Highly enjoyable action, but the suspension of disbelief was huge, even for these movies. She did all of this on basically her second mission?

DOOM: The Dark Ages
This honestly wasn't on my radar, I thought the dark ages thing meant it wasn't a traditional Doom game, but boy was I wrong. I liked it a hell (no pun intended) of a lot more than Doom Eternal. It had similar things where certain attacks would refill various things (armor, weapons, health, etc) but I think you weren't limited to one method per stat. Like, I think using the flamethrower would give you armor back, while using a melee would give you ammo back or something like that. This seemed to combine a few, so it felt like there were many different ways to refill your stuff. Being able to parry was a neat addition, but it's not something I need in other Doom games. I loved being able to throw your shield (eventually you get the ability to bounce it between enemies, Captain America style) and have it stick to a guy, which would basically stun it. I ended up mainly using the shield charge to get close to an enemy and blast it in the face with the super shotgun, rinse and repeat until most enemies were dead. I doubt that's as viable a strategy at higher difficulties though.
There were a few levels where you would fly on a dragon, and a few where you'd pilot a mech and honestly, while they were neat, I don't really want to do those things in a Doom game. The mech at least felt cool, the dragon not as much. The dragon kind of boiled down to locking onto a turret, dodging its attack, and then counterattacking, no real crazy strategy, which made it pretty boring. The thing I never got tired of was the sensation of being this big, powerful guy. Your steps (at least when you're running) boom with each footstep, when you jump from a decently high area, you can land and create a shockwave that kills a bunch of fodder enemies, which was a lot of fun.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard
My first Dragon Age game, and I ended up liking it more than I expected I would. I was hankering for a Bioware style RPG to play (and was considering restarting Mass Effect) so this came along at the right time. People say the writing is bad, and I honestly didn't get that feeling. Maybe it wasn't as deep as it could've been considering some of the topics they bring up through the companion characters? I dunno. I think I ended the game with around 35 hours put into it. The main thing I didn't like was that the last 5 hours or so was me just doing side quests so that the various factions would be in good enough standing to not die during the final mission, which I wasn't a huge fan of. I do however, wish that I had realized sooner that selling your valuables to the various marketplaces would give you standing points as well. I was at the usual "point of no return" mission, so I went to sell all my valuable stuff to one vendor and it gave me something like 2000 points towards their standing, so I went back to an earlier save and spread it out a bit more evenly. I was able to get most up to level 2 (out of 3), and two of them up to level 3. There were still side quests I could've done, but at that point I was ready for the game to be over with. The only other thing that bothered me was (point of no return mission spoilers)
that I spent the entire game getting my bond up with Harding to romance her, only to have her die because of one fucking choice I made in the "final" mission. I got absolutely zero pay-off to it because I picked the wrong person to lead the first team. I figured with her skills as a scout, she was the right choice to lead that team. It just sucked to have it boil down to that single mistake I made, and that be the only thing that stopped me. I guess it makes it more "realistic" that the person I romance dies before we have a chance to really show how we feel, but my god it made me so mad. I could've gone back and save scummed, but my position on Bioware RPGs is that I have my one "canon" run through, and I live with the consequences of my actions. I'm probably going to go back tomorrow and not pick her for that team and see what happens. Yeah, I could hop on Youtube and watch it, but it wouldn't be MY Rook, MY choices, etc. I just felt robbed of the agency.

I got it on Wednesday, started playing late that night. I'd say 10-15 hours, just mainlining through the story. Don't know for sure since the Switch won't tell me yet.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
A great game from beginning to end, if a bit easy. It's cool to see the creative freedom given in the last 3D games carry over into the 2D ones. Loved the art style, glad it got used in more than just the Link's Awakening remake. I may go through it again on the harder difficulty.

Been on a bit of a retro kick after getting that CRT upgrade. I don't think i've gotten 96 exits on SMW since 1992. I'd never 100% completed Super Metroid before, so I figured i'd give that one a shot. It's been a long time since i've 100%'d LttP, but it was time for another go round. We also recently re-hooked up my Wii U, so I figured i'd play through Twilight Princess again. Still not a huge fan of that game, but I like it better now than I did the last two times I played it, however long ago that was.

Godzilla Minus One
Outside of the first American Godzilla back in the early 2000s, i'd never seen a Godzilla movie before. I quite liked this one, more than I thought I would

It's my own fault for not completely avoiding social media, but it still sucks. I even tried to cover up most of my Instagram feed to not get spoiled, and the one area my hand wasn't covering had a spoiler for the main event.
And yeah, Christian getting a title shot and failing at winning is fine, the Luchasaurus fakeout was just fucking dumb
-
I had both of those spoiled for me so I didn't enjoy them as much as I could've. Both were great though, and I can tell if I hadn't had them spoiled I would've loved the hell out of 'em. The only match result I hated was the Casino Gauntlet, they need to fucking pull that face turn for Luchasaurus already.

Rite Here Rite Now (2024)
Basically a concert film for the band Ghost on their most recent tour. It was shot over two shows in LA (that i'm really bummed I didn't get to go to after watching this) with a bit of extra band lore thrown in.

Found out earlier that the job might be a scam. A friend of mine linked me to a reddit post where a bunch of other people had similar stories to mine. Same company, same name on the e-mail, they got contacted by a secondary company of the same name (different business name from the first company, I mean the two companies I got contacted by were the same two they got contacted by) from the same e-mail address. The whole thing has been a bit odd, as I never spoke to an actual person outside of e-mails. No phone interview, no video interview, nothing. I think the idea that I may have an actual job lined up after looking for over a year had me blinded to the possibility of it not being true.

After looking for a job for over a year, I finally got two job offers. One pays more than the other (8 bucks more an hour), so obviously i'm taking the higher paying job. But man, I really was not expecting that last interview to go well enough to actually land me a job. It'll be remote data entry at a medical company. I've never done data entry, but I imagine it can't be that hard?

Alright, more spoiler-y thoughts.
I never would've guessed, in a million years, that we'd be seeing Age of Apocalypse Wolverine in a Marvel movie, much less an MCU one. The other different versions of Wolverine ; comic accurate height (which was GOLD), Cavil-rine was awesome, I forget some of the others....OH, more accurate Old Man Logan! All of which got the movie off to a fantastic start. That intro scene with Deadpool beating the shit out of the TVA guys with Logan's adamantium skeleton may be the best start to a Marvel movie ever. The Cap/Johnny Storm bait and switch (which I had seen other people say "wouldn't it be cool if that happened?) had me DYING. It was cool seeing original Sabertooth back (although I would've loved to see Liev Schreiber back as well, but oh well), as well as original Toad. Would've been cool to see the rest of the original movie team come back as well but would probably be far over budget (especially with getting Chris Evans back). Cassandra Nova was pretty dope as a main villain, her powers were creepy as fuck...I had to stop looking at her literally poking around in people's heads at some point, it was nasty. I feel like even though she died at the end, there's still a shot they can bring her back at some point. I think she's too cool to save for just one movie.
I had both Lady Deadpool and X-23 coming back spoiled before the movie (thanks The Verge's Facebook page), but honestly X-23's the only one I really wish I hadn't known about going in, as I loved that character in Logan, and her character in the comics. Thinking back on it, I don't give a shit about Lady Deadpool, and considering how little of an impact she had on the movie as a whole, I wasn't as mad about it, but it still kinda sucked. They need to stop spoiling so much shit in trailers. That said, seeing Wesley fucking Snipes come back as Blade was a very welcome surprise, as I don't think he and Ryan got along back on the third Blade movie. The joke about him being the only Blade was pretty good too, I really hope they're finally able to get that movie off the ground. Seeing Wolverine in a more accurate costume was amazing, although there were some angles where it just looked off (mostly around the back of the shoulders), but overall it was super fucking cool. When he pulls the cowl up near the end I said "he had that there the whole time?!" and had a good laugh about it.All in all, it felt like a really good send-off to the Fox MCU (which I think Blade is technically a part of, even though I think New Line distributed it?), and the mid-credits scene being a behind the scenes montage of a bunch of old non-MCU stuff was a wonderful touch. I'm actually really looking forward to watching it again, I may see if the local cheap theater has a showing some time next week.

Deadpool & Wolverine
I fucking loved it. Deadpool 1 > 3 > 2. Will probably post more spoiler-y stuff in the morning when I'm at my keyboard
Side note: I've loved about 95% of what the MCU has produced, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt

To Wong Foo: Thanks For Everything - Julie Newmar (1994)
I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. It's a bit too idealistic, but it was a wonderful story, to be sure.

Even though I only beat it with one deck, i'm still considering that a completed game. Downloaded it on my phone to kill time while bored at work, and was finally able to beat it with a blue deck. Trying now with a red deck and it seems a lot harder
