    Doomsday Preppers (Netflix)

...Is one of mine and 18's favourite shows right now, owing in part to the personalities. Some of the guys are nice, likeable switched-on types. There was a hippie drum circle in one episode that built a bomb shelter and horded a bunch of beans. The self-description of the prep basically went; "We're going to go into the bomb shelter, then we're going to come out and continue drumming and eating beans. Nobody will bother their ass with us because we don't have a lot going on here other than drumming, eating beans and blazing joints, and we're all much too old to be good as labour." They were my favourite people. Then there are absolute fucking maniacs. One guy decided to welcome his Colombian... And I don't want to presume, but I presume pretty f hard in this instance mail order bride to the country by Scaring the Absolute Shit out of her about dirty bombs then making her, fresh off the damn flight run in heels to a bugout vehicle to shoot guns and eat out of date MRE's in a mosquito filled field. It was excruciating to watch. Early on in season one, there was a guy who's whole prep was; "I'm a master herbalist. I'm going to go to a filthy artificial river, identify edible greens and drink the water." The assessment of his prep went something like; You are going to die. Then there was like a matress-king like guy. One of these lizard-people who make a shitload of money out of some stupid like, franchised truck-nut welding empire... who spent like; ten million dollars building a shoddy castle out of breezeblocks. Wait though; He made sure the breezeblocks were Textured on one side so it looked more castle-like. Then he made his entire horrible clan Audition for 100% of his inheritence (which was mostly tied up in Fort McMansion, at this point) by eating out-of-date beans and failing to shoot guns safely, before he lead them all into a bunker in a lightning storm, which promptly got struck by lightning (no lightning rod!) whereupon all the electrics promptly shat themselves. Watching these Kristen and Todds play into this nugget's Henry VIII dynastics fantasy knowing that if they don't, they'll inherit diddly squat from this fuckin "Job Creator" was singly the funniest thing I've seen on television this year. I love this show. edit: OH! And there was this creepy-ass Dr Kervorkian or Strangelove-esque nuclear scientist who while demonstrating the effectiveness of the guard tower his prepper-friend built... Gave his friend permanent hearing damage by shooting a ridiculous gun inside the blind. Just KABLAM, tinnitus, deaf for like 3 months with permanent high-end hearing loss. I felt awful for the friend. Ughhhhh, imagine hearing that whine knowing you'll never hear at that frequency again

    Favorite YouTube Channels

18 saw Postmodern Jukebox on bandsintown a while back and we were hyped until we saw the price; which I think was somewhere around £50 a ticket We could go to 2-3 other shows for that! They are very talented and good, though. I like when they collab with Puddles.

Anecdote & could be barnum effect but these all seem to fit yall pretty well. In terms of swinging from T to F; I think I've had this change over time where I've stopped seeing This Gay Earth as something that I have any hope of understanding according to some systemized, clear, explanatory schema. I'm fully aware that there are people about who can, or will eventually be able to explain something like Autism according to like; neural cell adhesion molecules. Crucially, though, I've realized that will not be me. No matter how hard I lean into being a popscience fanboy dipshit, nobody's going to let me play with CRISPR; That ship sailed when I got straight-c's in high school. Taking stock of what abilities I do have though; Reading comprehension and a weird dirtbag rhetorical flair I feel like I might be able to manage to be something like Chesterton's philosophical policeman in that I tend to see when people are making some horrible ideological mistake. I'm pretty much sterile in terms of original ideas but I have this compensatory super-hearing w/r/t dogwhistles, bullshit and ideology which is actually kind of cursed because I find myself in the role of Big Hairy Horse's Ass Telling Everyone They're Wrong more often than not, while bringing little if anything to the table. It's actually weird as hell to be described as a "Campaigner" given the one cause I really got fired up about (Labour Organizing) went kind of badly for me.

How anyone could get any truths out of the sheer fuckin foaming vitriol and bitterness of my typical posting IDK. There was a modpost on the Zizek subreddit recently about how important it is to try to be a pro in discussions/debates because there is an instinctive revulsion/opposition to signs of jouissance in an interlocutor where we just don't want to agree with them... We don't want to be on the side of someone who appears in some way to be getting off on yelling at people. You must be a very singular person indeed to be able to get anything out of being yelled at for no raisin other than This Asshole's ego and I'm impressed. Thanks for listening.

    Ultimate Travel Wishlist

Haven't been on a vacation in Years; We have a moneybox for going to Japan, but we (I?) keep draining it because I keep buying stupid shit. I'd really like to see a shrine in the snow. I also find myself on trains a lot going here or there and looking at the Lake District going to myself; "WTF, why have I never been to the Lake District". Shit is beautiful. It takes a conscious effort to not get off the train at the next stop, or smash a window and try to hit the ground running. I'd also like to visit Crono in Texas. We talk a lot on the Whatsapp, we both love shooting guns, we both love bullshitting about politics, and Texas seems like a riot. I want to see some cowboy shit. I've also never seen a desert, and Texas has the Chihuahuan. My dad actually invited me to come see him in Bahrain and in Saudi but stupid work bullshit and procrastination kept me here ? I had a prime opportunity to see the Middle East my dudes, and didn't take it. So much regret.

    Best Quentin Tarantino Movie?

Jackie Brown was so good and it makes me sad that the rest of his oeuvre is so good that it will never be voted best. Not even by me.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2

I was sold at "Open world; based on the White Wolf ttrpg". I was Double-sold at Avellone being involved. One of my big gaming regrets is not playing the original, and I feel like if I tried to play it now (Like I'm experiencing atm with Far Cry 3 remaster) I will be unable to, being used to getting so many serotony-hugs and so much handholding from contemporary games. I tried to play Fallout 1 + 2 and got destroyed, hated the UI... Clearly excellent gaming to be had, I just don't have the patience. But yeah, White Wolf game, Avellone on board, sequel to a game that ALWAYS comes up when I say I like narrative heavy, plot-branching type games... Very excited.

    Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

I've never played a Souls game... My last experience of that kinda action-beaty game was literally Devil May Cry 1. But this looks comfy, I like the aesthetic. Will I like it? Will I have trouble playing it?

    Personality Types Test

ENFP: Campaigner You Can Change the World With Just an Idea More than just sociable people-pleasers though, Campaigners, like all their Diplomat cousins, are shaped by their Intuitive (N) quality, allowing them to read between the lines with curiosity and energy. They tend to see life as a big, complex puzzle where everything is connected – but unlike Analyst personality types, who tend to see that puzzle as a series of systemic machinations, Campaigners see it through a prism of emotion, compassion and mysticism, and are always looking for a deeper meaning. Big swing towards F, I used to pretty much always get ENTP. The one constant in these tests whenever I take them is I always get near 50:50 Introversion/Extroversion.

Online Reading (webnovels and so on)

For a while I was reading this really good one called UNSONG, which is it's whole own genre. Set in an alternate present; Kabbalah is real, and corporations have begun Digital Rights Management of them. People are employed to work in cubicles while computers present them with random strings that could be magic words (Names of God). They recite these words to see if anything happens. If you discover one, the corporation owns it and licenses it to consumers. Demi-religious Hacker groups exist who insist that these are Names of God, and should not be owned. It also goes into mad shit like the alternate "Moon Landing" where Neil Armstrong was the first person to go to the other side of the firmament around Earth, and what all the Angels are up to. I never got around to finishing it, (It's long!) but it's pretty great. Would advise for fans of Pratchett, William Gibson, and Garth Ennis. http://unsongbook.com/
