Six is cool until the twist. Then it becomes absolute dog shit. Shame, because I thought the Season Six premiere was so fucking good and a nice return to form.
-
I hope RZA is also doing the soundtrack. That would make this must-see. Even if it doesn't fit.

I support Mafia being played here. Naturally, people are gonna get pissy and might call someone out for stupid plays, but I think as long as things like personal attacks and extreme insults don't get involved, it shouldn't have to be policed too hard. Over on Rajah, we can get pretty heated mid game, but we're cool about it everywhere else.

I've always been a huge Child's Play fan, so I'm at least curious. But I haven't seen anything since Bride of Chucky, but I'm not too sure about this yet. It'll be weird hearing a different voice for Chucky. I'll definitely check it out, though.

Comic Book Movie Mini Tournament - Finals

Look at you stirring up conversation. I think what probably happened is writers and artists probably started going for more of a Chicago vibe in the later years, hence why everyone always FELT like it Chicago when it's truly NYC. I'm just talking out of my ass, though. I think it's fair to say it's ultimately NYC, regardless of what it feels like. -
I unfortunately don't have time to read the last big wall posts, as curious as I am, but I'd just like to chime in with what I've read and skimmed through: FFXV's story was a palatable disaster due to the extended development time and constant changes. As has been said, great ideas that just were never fleshed out. But the gameplay was probably the best you could make in the modern era without resorting to traditional JRPG turn-based style. Some tweaks here and there, but I felt they really struck that balance of "ARPG that still makes you feel like you're playing a JRPG." And as an overall package, it was easily the most satisfying Final Fantasy since X(or XII depending on your opinion). It definitely brought back that sense of exploration and discovery over a fascinating world. If only the open world had a couple more fleshed out towns, and wasn't completely disassociated from the linear main story section. Just imagine if we could have explored those areas where the train stops at.

I don't remember the specifics, but the studio didn't want a deep, challenging film. They wanted another blockbuster action movie with big robots, so they got someone else to do it. His idea was the fallout. The way the world became with Jaegers as a common commodity and how it affected society, with the only real connection to the first one being in the same universe. I would have been all over that.

I'm disappointed he didn't get to create his vision for a Pacific Rim sequel. Would have been a lot more compelling than both the original movie and the cashgrab the sequel ended up being. I don't really have a horse in this race as I've only seen Pacific Rim, Blade II and Hellboy all the way through, and don't feel strongly about any of them enough that I feel comfortable voting them as his best movie. Didn't know he made Blade II, though. I love that movie.

Comic Book Movie Mini Tournament - Finals

I always got more of a Chicago vibe, especially with the heavy mafia influence, but the early days of Detective Comics said NYC. I could see later Batman maybe being a bit more influenced by Chicago, but other than Nolan's version, NYC is probably the proper answer. Also, there IS a Gotham in Canada irl, so that might have been the cheeky joke he was making. -

Is this real? I've never heard this, and always been under the impression it was based off NYC or Chicago. -
I don't disagree with this post, but I feel like Sephiroth doesn't really belong in the most successful. He fails in destroying the planet, and then fails again after his remnants try to pick up the pieces.

Ehhh, I don't know how I feel about it. I feel like Wayne Static is too integral of a part and shouldn't be replaced like that. I'd prefer the band continue with a different name. That said, I'm still willing to check it out.

Comic Book Movie Mini Tournament - Day 9

Joker is overrated. That's the truth. Harvey Dent is the true star. I'm sick of The Dark Knight. I'll probably never watch it again of my own choice. But I can never deny what an excellent movie it is. And for me, it just barely beats out Infinity War. -
I actually really liked Phone Booth. I haven't seen most of these, though.
-
I voted Back to the Future. Too iconic to not be the best.
-
Lebowski and it's not even close. But all the ones I've seen are great, so you can't really go wrong.

Kofi/Bryan would be legit if Kofi is winning, but it really should be the triple threat.

It's always funny hearing about the people who don't like Riddle. And I don't mean you're it condescendingly, it's just odd for me. I got into Riddle during the latter half of his career, and I thought it was just understood that his gimmick was great. I like seeing the people that can't stand him, though, as typically I hate this kind of personality, too, and it's nice to see a differing opinions that can still respect how good he is in the ring. 5-way was insane. In a way, it was kind of a highlight of NXT's current best, while also somewhat passing the torch to those sticking around post-Mania. I think Cole finally gets his run at the top of NXT with Undisputed behind him, and the show is put on the shoulders of he, Riddle, and Dream until their inevitable call-ups. On the male singles side anyway.

This one was pretty rough. Almost went with Pulp Fiction because it's the quintessential Tarantino film. Always been partial to Kill Bill 1, and it's hard for me not to irrationally love Inglorious Basterds. Almost picked it, but I edged it to Kill Bill, Vol. 1

Nolan was influenced by Heat and Michael Mann films when he made Dark Knight. There are even some visual nods and whatnot.
-
You forgot Heat. Oh, wait...

Who do you main? Used to be Marth and Ness, but I'm slowly phasing out Marth in favor of Samus(former secondary). I have a solid roster of about 8 characters, though. Do you think you're any good? If you put me up against a top tier competitive player, I'm probably crushed in moments. Put me up against your average competitive player, and I will usually at least give them a fight. But I'm better than most casuals. What controller do you use? Dual Joycon, mostly so no one else can complain about not using the pro controller. I'd probably use Gamecube if I had one.

1000 Posts - SO CLOSE I CAN TASTE IT
Psycho666Soldier replied to webhead's topic in General Insanity
I definitely thought this was about you getting to a 1000 posts already, and I was a bit concerned. -
Yeah, I never picked up on One Piece when it became available to me when I was younger. Now I just have no hopes of ever catching up on anything, which is a shame because I hear deserves all the praise it gets.

Been a huge X-Men fan practically since birth. Super basic in loving Wolverine, but most X-Men-derived characters are up my alley. Other than them, I like Hulk, Daredevil, Spider-Man, and I grew up loving Punisher and Ghost Rider, but I don't even know if either are doing anything relevant these days as I never hear about them.
