    2024 Baseball Season

That would be great, but I doubt it. Four-gamer coming up against the Jays and they're probably going to come back to life all of a sudden and crush the Jays It's killing me watch the Yankees slump like this and the Jays haven't been able to gain any ground. Imagine if they were going into this weekend series only 4 or 5 games back instead of 10! That would have been exciting, especially since it looked like NYY's division lead was going to be untouchable. The Jays have been borderline unwatchable the last few weeks. August has been an effing nightmare for the most part. Thankfully, Stripling came back from the IL yesterday and gave them an incredible start, and then they strung together some hits and scored some runs, and FINALLY beat the O's. Getting swept by Baltimore at home before travelling to NY would have been soul crushing. If the Jays turn it around and get back on track, back to winning and looking like a good team, then that game yesterday, and Stripling's performance, will have been the turning point. It might have been a very important game for them. The M's are looking like they could run away with the 1st WC spot. They have a fairly soft schedule to finish the season. Their record in July was very good, and they're keeping up the winning ways in August so far.

I am all aboard the Dads' bandwagon! It's a bummer about Seattle, but even though they got swept, that was not an easy series for Houston. The M's put up a good fight.

Check this out: That is just nuts. This offseason has been crazy. And this latest situation with Correa is wild.

Right now, I don't think the Jays are good enough to do anything. They are killing me The O's have a legitimately pretty decent offense so I definitely won't be shocked if they find a way to finish the season around, or even slightly above, .500. Their pitching needs a lot of help to become an actually good team, but they're not the pushover they were last summer. What do I need to do to get the M's to lose tonight and tomorrow!? Please find a way to get a couple wins, Toronto

The M's are back in the win column after a couple games against Oakland. Seattle and Texas are tied for the third WC spot, only a game behind Toronto Gonna be a close finish! Baltimore has been beating up on the Astros the last couple days too, so the ALW division race is getting super tight again.

I am going to watch and wait a bit longer before I celebrate the Yankees' struggles. At this point, they're not likely to turn it around... but I want to be really sure about that before I say anything

Wouldn't it be wild and crazy if the Rays (or the O's for that matter!) swung a deadline deal for Ohtani and then won the World Series this year! Also, how about that dumb injury for Kelenic? Not looking great for the M's this year.

They've hit a rough patch for sure The games they're playing in Oakland this week should be winnable, in spite of Toronto's pitching woes. Going to Seattle won't be any easier. The Jays really need a strong second half here.

Maybe Seattle actually is collapsing..? You can't lose to the Rangers right now. Lucky for them, Baltimore also lost last night. The other AL Central teams are most liklely a non-factor now, so I think it's only Baltimore that have a chance of catching Seattle if they blow it.

It feels like the Phils could be any and every team right now. Like they find a different gear in October.

I thought it was a pretty decent series. Not the most memorable, but enjoyable. I miss baseball

Marlins didn't even win a WC game But it was a nice idea! Every WC series was a two-game sweep. Bye-bye Rays, Jays, Marlins, and Brewers. The WC was a dud this year IMO. Hardly any competitive games. The scores were closest in the Twins/Jays games, but if you watched the games, you know that they weren't actually that close. The Jays got beat quite easily by the Twins. I expected more from the Jays, Rays, and Brewers... but, oh well. The Phillies are a sneaky good team right now. Despite how incredible the Braves were this year, I would not be shocked to see the Phils beat them in the NLDS and make another run to the World Series. A WS win would really be a feather in Bryce Harper's cap. He's done pretty much everything else. On the AL side, I would like to see the Twins and O's match up in the ALCS. Fresh faces. I was really impressed by the Twins the last couple days. I don't know if I can bring myself to cheer for the O's, even though they have lots of likeable players. And I definitely don't want to be cheering for the Rangers. So it's either Houston or Minnesota by default that gets my support in the ALCS.

Yeah, these games coming up against Tampa and Baltimore are massive. All they have to do is win most of those games (easier said than done, of course) and they can: a) keep Baltimore out of the Wild Card; and b) maybe leapfrog Tampa in the WC standings. There is also a series left against NYY, and they've been slumping badly, so maybe the division is still in play even for Toronto if they can get really hot here. It seems doubtful, but you never know. Mixed in there, Toronto also has games left against Pittsburgh and Texas, which in theory should be easier wins... but this team just got swept by LAA and then struggled to eke out a series win against the Cubs, so nothing is easy right now These guys better fucking take care of business in Pittsburgh this weekend!!!

Astros and M's on three-game losing streaks Good to see Houston falling off but Seattle needs to start winning games. The Jays won a series at the Trop this weekend, which is something I'm thrilled about. Only six games left to go!

As long as Ohtani can keep doing the two-way player thing like this, he should be MVP every year in whichever league he happens to be in. That dude is so incredibly talented.

    2024 Baseball Season

Big win last night in New York! Berrios had a great start. One or two spots it looked like it could go off the rails, but he self-corrected and got back on track. Seems like he had some extra zip and movement on his fastballs last night. Kikuchi even pitched a clean(ish) inning out of the bullpen. You don't like to see him walk the first guy on four straight balls, but the positives were that he was hitting 97 mph and throwing more pitches in the zone (aside from against the first batter). If he's only throwing one or two innings out of the 'pen, he can pump that fastball, and who cares if he's a bit wild in the zone. 96-97 mph from the left side, with some nice natural movement, is not easy for hitters to handle, even if he misses his spot in the zone. He can shelve a couple of his secondary pitches and just use the fastball and one off-speed pitch. It's just one inning, but it's a good sign, and I hope he can show us more of that.

Doesn’t matter for the Jays right now if the other team is hot or not. They lose anyways They just lost a series to the Nats Washington was 5-5 in their previous 10 games, but four of those five wins were against the Marlins who are a truly bad team. Basically, Washington is not a great team. They took two of three against Toronto without much trouble though!

    2024 Baseball Season

The Jays are simply not good enough. I think their window to complete for a World Series with this core group of players has closed. I won’t be surprised if some players are on the move at the deadline. Problem is the theoretically most valuable guys (Vlad and Bo) are both struggling this year. Trade value feels low ATM. Maybe they could cash in on some of their good starting pitchers as well. Blow it up.

The Astros are real bad to start the season. They really dug themselves a hole to get out of.

It's really hard to say with this Jays team. Offensively, on paper, they ought to be so much better... but these guys seem to have no power. They take walks, they get lots of hits (singles), but struggle with the "big" hits (RISP or HRs). It sucks watching them and say they're down by 2 or 3 runs in the 6th inning, and it's like, "Well, they can't possibly come back from that!" Previous Jays teams never had trouble scoring, and you instead had to worry about the 'pen maybe blowing it if the lead wasn't big enough. Looking back, that is a lot more fun to watch compared to this team that just can't score enough. They have 6 games left vs. Tampa, and the Rays could still win the division, so they'll be competing in those games. And 6 games vs. the Yankees, who are quite bad this year, but they'll still be trying to win just to play spoiler. I hope the M's can start racking up wins again and get into the WC.

The Jays have 7 games still against the O's. They start a 4-game series today, and then a 3-gamer mid-August. A strong performance in these 7 games could help the Jays move up the standings. I am not setting my hopes very high, because the Jays have been so frustrating this season... but I would love to see them pick up a bunch of wins against Baltimore! Tampa has been bad in July but I feel like they'll turn it around before long. They always seem to find a way. Trade action is starting to pick up. The Jays got Hicks from the Cards -- finally some serious heat in the bullpen! The Angels are making a few moves. Hard to see them really making a strong postseason push... but it would be a cool thing to see Trout and Ohtani playing into October. And the Mets are doing some kinda rebuild / re-tool. I think it's smart to get out of the Max Scherzer business now. Might as well cash in on Verlander too. They could turn things around pretty quick with the right trade returns, maybe be competitive again in another year or two if all the stars align.

This whole Correa saga has been quite unbelievable! I hope he stays on the field and plays well in Minnesota. I'd like to see the Twins return to relevance again. They had a nice stretch of competitiveness in the 2000's. Those were some solid teams. But mostly losing seasons since 2010. Correa ought to be the best player on their team if he stays healthy. Buxton is also a player with lots of potential, and I think he's been a bit more consistent the last couple years. They have some other perfectly decent position players too. Seems like they can't develop pitching though, at least not in recent years.

I'm not sure about that. The Guardians came into Toronto a few weeks ago and beat the Jays quite badly. They're a scrappy team that gets a lot of balls in play, and they have very solid pitching. They won't be a pushover, if they win the ALC. I don't have much hope for the White Sox or Twins. For me, the nightmare scenario would be: Jays finish #5 and Tampa is #4. I want absolutely nothing to do with a 3-game series at the Trop If the season was finished today, the Jays would go to Seattle for a 3-gamer. That would be fun! West Coast Jays fans will try to take over the Seattle stadium as usual, but I have a feeling the M's fans will try to keep all the tickets for themselves to keep the Jays fans out.
