  1. The damn governor passed a law that schools can't require masks. The school seams behind the curve on screening and actually knowing and doing anything about prevention besides some basics like cleaning, having kids spaced at lunch, and some timing things to keep groups away from each other. I also didn't much like the kindergarten teacher and my wife liked her even less. The 2nd grade teacher is going to be missed. My daughter is/was in the advanced class and that same group of students more or less will be together through 8th grade if they stay in there. My daughter missed out all last year being with them because that class didn't offer distance only. She finally got to see some of her classmates from kindergarten for 2 weeks.
  2. Started to get a scratchy throat over the weekend and work up this morning with a sore throat. Did a home test and I'm positive It just feels like a sore throat with a bit a drainage and stuffed up ears. So the vaccine and booster are working. Wife and kids tested negative. So I am isolated in the master bedroom and I set up my work laptop on the bathroom counter. There is a lower section between the two sinks without a cabinet, works surprisingly well with my computer chair 😛
  3. Work is still happening, hospital construction site. We cut back to 1 person on site managing the contractors. I'll be working from home as much as possible and taking some stress away from my wife who works from home normally while both of the kids are home.
  4. Non-freedom unit 10 day forecast for my area. Freedom unit version.
  5. Arm is a little sore today and I feel like I didn't sleep the best, but good so far.
  6. My daughter's school was following the status of some measures the county is tracking for being able to have in person class. They had to go back to 100% distance learning like a week ago. So glad we had already committed to distance learning for the year so it didn't change anything for us.
  7. Force of habit, I locked my computer before getting up to go to the bathroom...only once though 😛
  8. Feeling very tired and muscles are sore, I laid down for 2 hours and I'm a bit better.
  9. My wife's grandmother's brother passed away today. He had covid and was quite old, but i think that he had other issues as well. I've never met him so I can't say for sure. But that is the closest I've been to someone that died from covid.
  10. Oooh my turn for stupid family stories. My wife's side of the family wanted to get together for walk around the neighborhood to look at Halloween decorations. There are 4 families that are all about in the same like 5 square mile community, so I thought it would just be them but it ended up being ALL of them. My wife has 8 siblings and there are 8 grand children between them. We get to this fountain in an outdoor area first, all masked up (4 and 7 year old no less). The first SIL who had Covid (fairly mild case without any complications that I know about. Oh yeah, she is temporarily living with the grandparents) like a month ago shows up without a mask and her 2 & 4 year old do not have masks either. Grandparents and other younger kids show up without masks either. 2 other SIL's and family w/kids show up masked, one who is very strict with precautions because she had bone cancer as a kid so she doesn't want to risk anything. 12 masked and maybe 11 that aren't. Of those 11, 2 are freaking nurses! They had to go back to their cars to get their masks after my wife asked her dad if everyone was going to wear masks. I was ready to leave if they said no. Everyone got them and put them on with lame excuses about forgetting them in the car except for one sister and her husband. They had their dog and said they would walk in the back away from everyone...My wife was talking with them about 20 feet away asking them to put a mask on so I couldn't hear everything. They were so inconsiderate and selfish with their own family that they wouldn't wear a mask for a walk. They didn't even have ones so they had to borrow them from the covid sister who had a box of disposable ones. We started walking and I didn't look back at them much and it was dark, but I'm pretty sure they took them off. AYFKM, how hard is it to do this for your family? This is the first time the whole family has been together since like Christmas. My wife is pissed and is all worked up about the confrontation because that is not something she likes to do.
  11. My wife just sent me a link said anyone over 16 will be eligible starting Wednesday for the vaccine. Going to be spamming f5 to get a spot. Think the GPU bot people could make a script for that 😛
  12. Had the kids in school for 2 weeks in person and my son already had a kid in the class with covid. We are pulling them out and doing online again. Not ideal for Kindergarten, but my 2nd grader should do just fine. Can we just have the damn vaccine for 6 years and up already???
  13. Got my boss to bring some OJ on his way into the office for us.
  14. My wife was able to get her first vaccine shot today. She's an RN but works from home and still qualified for it right now. It's not going to change our behavior, but it is a little bit less of something to worry about.
  15. That was our thought too, even though we are all working/schooling from home. Definitely hasn't been cold here 😛 Expecting 100+ temps again for the next three days.
  16. Got my first shot scheduled for Monday, getting Pfizer.
  17. At least it's the actual teachers from the school teaching what they would have, probably in a different way. It's first grade so most of it is early learning to read and do math.
  18. First shot of the Pfizer in. Process was super easy at CVS.
  19. Distance leading is tough for my daughter in first grade, she gets sooooo bored and just walks away from the computer. She drives my wife crazy talking to her all day because they are in the same room. My wife worked from home normally before and wants her empty house back. I don't blame her.
  20. No pay cut for us but the normally scheduled merit pay raises are on hold for a couple of months. I can't complain about how much they pay me already so not getting an additional 2-4% for a couple months isn't going to hurt right now. All the VP level and above got all their bonuses put on hold also.
  21. Yesterday Arizona started allowing anyone 16 and over to get the vaccine.
