  1. Ya needless to say I'm dreading working this Thanksiving and Xmas. While I know my friends circles will be smart and my inn e r family. (Haven't hugged my parents since this shit started but I make sure to have my hands washed/sanitized when I go see them and usually stay out of the house unless I have to go in, and then I don't touch anything I don't have to) But I know my customers are still totally forgetting that we're in a pandemic when they ask us why we can't give rainchecks for out of stocks or why we aren't getting certain things in. And our crowds are just nuts because labor hours are still getting cut. My family hasn't been doing Thanksiving last couple years and I'm sure room mate will just go to the GF's family and they are doing things safe, Xmas will be the only thing my family also doesn't do this year since my grandma on my mom's side can't leave her facility anyways and window visits will probably slow down with weather getting colder. So work will be the biggest suck about this holiday, ComiCon sent out a survey email about face to face events in 2021, which was just the same type of questions asked about comfort levels and rank options about testing and requirements about 7 different ways Highly doubt they'll be able to have any Cons in spring anyways so totally worthless.
  2. I think one of the hardest parts for me from all this, is hearing stories from my friends who are either been infected or have/had family infected or die from Covid and feeling utterly useless and helpless because not even words of condolence feel anywhere near adequate when something like this happens. One of my close friends posted that her Dad was taking some risks even though he would wash his hands and wear a mask. Risks like going to the gym everyday/hanging with people/etc. Because even though my friend and her siblings would tell him to not play that game he said he didn't want to skip over life so if he got it he got it. He was found unconscious when someone noted he didn't show up for work and it was discovered that he suffered a stroke due to Covid-peumonia combo, and then put into a medically induced coma with intubated to help him breathe. Apparently it's not uncommon for Covid to cause strokes without any prior symptoms) 3 days later (today) she updated that he's finally woken up and was able to respond to his name and be a little coherent. And sadly he can't move the left side of his body. I'm happy for her that hopefully her dad can start getting on the mend but it's shit like this that makes me want to go around beating people with a stick for being selfish asshats and keep comparing this to the damn flu.
  3. WA state officially hits full reopening today. Mask guidance is still following CDC where if you're vaxxed you're fine unless businesses require it, if you not vaxxed mask up (but like fuck they will) and indoor events have to be at 75% capacity and will be revised in end of July. I'm still gonna wear mine to work and in public for a bit. But it has been nice doing group gatherings with vaxxed friends. Get some sanity back.
  4. Sonuva....i'm glad your symptoms are mild Galeigh and i hope you recover quickly, how are your folks doing? So a couple weeks ago one of my best friends since high school just lost her mom. We don't know what the cause was and we never will because autopsy is expensive af. But we knew that she was recovered from lung cancer and wasn't feeling so great recently. My friend just found out that when her mom was sick she tried to go to the hospital, she was turned away because it was one of the many overstuffed hospitals from high covid cases (North Carolina). They just gave her something quick to see if it would help and sent her on her way. Had she been able to be seen properly, she might not have died and been found by my friend's grandmother. (Who now is in a different hospital atm because they found a growth in her throat that has been the source of her coughing). Fuck. All. These. Antivaxers.
  5. I got my pfizer booster shot today. We'll see how it makes me feel but i'm hoping that it just makes me feel sleepy for the most part.
  6. We're supposed to be starting our new reopening plan on the 11th that will be based on sections and conditions and naturally the data is showing that none of the sections have met the criteria yet on even being on Phase 1. Considering our highest new cases in Dec was over Five thousand on the 7th and highest deaths we had recent on the 29th of Dec was 133. I'm totally not surprised. https://www.king5.com/article/news/health/coronavirus/report-finds-no-regions-ready-to-reopen-jan-11-under-inslees-healthy-washington-plan/281-33449a56-73f5-4175-b546-2e2943d5106
  7. ......................... I have not heard of this new development, and kinda wish they went back to drinking bleach.
  8. I seriously have no words anymore. I am glad for the twins sake that they made it through okay. Your friend is truly fortunate and i hope this experience has made her think over some of her previous choices. (Although i see that slim chance). I had more typed here about another mutual friend of me and bestie, but honestly that one is a bit more complicated so i deleted all that. And part of that isn't fully relevant to this. But i legit snapped at him for the first time ever in our friendship because of words that were said that i know in a different mind set, he wouldn't say it. And i was done. Very done.
  9. I just think it's stupid not to go for the 2nd shot if you've already just gotten your first one. If you wanted the One n Done, research more where you can find the JJ vaccine when they started rolling those out again. In slight recent news apparently kids 5 and over will be able to get vaccines in Sep. And Pfizer are doing trial runs on that going for FDA approval.
  10. Work is in the talks of vaccines for associates now. Most of you know this from the discord chat but a couple weeks ago my front end manager was going around asking each of us who was interested in getting the vaccine. And then highlighting the names that said yes on her list. So while I'm not sure when exactly it's starting that at least means we'll be getting our vaccines soonish. And going to be getting $100 taxable cash incentive for it. They're going to be going through it the same phase structure as the state though which makes sense. -Associates 65+ years of age get it first - Then the ones with health conditions - Then by seniority etc. Like I said Idk when it will start up but the fact that they're advertising the cash incentive and how to look into getting on the list is at least a start. I just hope it's soon. Dad got both his shots, mom gets hers on the 3rd. And grandparents are all covered on both. So other than my brother, I'm breathing easier a little bit at a time.
  11. So as if we weren't short handed already. This holiday week has been fucking nuts and we're stretched even more thin because my front end manager tested Positive for Covid Wed Morning. We've also had a hit in our Meat dept and Bakery in this past week but i wasn't too worried since i hardly have any contact with those dept. My manager not so much. We had a shift together Monday, he started feeling symptoms on Tues and had a fever of 103 by wed morning when he was tested. So i was able to squeeze in a rapid test later Wed night after work. (I have had no symptoms since monday but i wanna see my folks tomorrow so better safe than sorry.) Thankfully i came up negative and i know the nose teat is only a few second but FUCK it's so uncomfortable!!!
  12. Fuck no, Unless Iet a private island just past the east coast. Nope.
  13. Most of what I've seen from 1st shot reactions has been varying from just a sore arm to flu symptoms to feeling sore in the upper body for like, a day. And then fine. With what few friends I know that have gotten 2nd shot just slightly more heavy on the flu symptoms for a couple days then fine. I 2nd Nelle suggesting to down play the harsher feels part just so your mom's not anxious. The only part I'm anxious about other than the fucking needle (personal fear of medical needles) is when the fuck i can get mine since supposedly Grocery store employees are eligible in "spring". Whenever the fuck that will be.
  14. I don't work since it's the end of my partial vacation. Debating on whether I want to go candy bag route since we don't get a lot of kids through here anyways. But will definitely be doing movie marathon and snacking. And enjoying the Halloween Full moon.
  15. Mail ins are way easier since you can look over stuff in the comfort of home and not be around people anyways.
  16. Edit: my boss pointed out that this only effects stores in Seattle and not us, but they're trying. Man she can be a buzzkill at times. Well in some better news, we get our Hazard Pay back. Dunno how long it'll last but I'll take it for sure. https://www.king5.com/mobile/article/news/local/seattle/grocery-store-hazard-pay-vote/281-e3e4d42d-2de3-436c-9e22-a25ca1d83f79
  17. In some smaller hopeful news. Pfizer might be available for kids between 5-11 soon. https://www.king5.com/mobile/article/news/health/coronavirus/vaccine/pfizer-to-seek-authorization-soon-for-covid-vaccine-ages-5-to-11/507-9e497d52-c2eb-45f7-9657-f38f8b2b63b0
  18. Work was actually kinda okay yesterday. Friday was the worst of it from what I told some of you folks on Discord. Sat and Sunday were a notch less circus shit and just busy af but with a couple people willing to come in early and a football game it made it tolerable. We had our limits posted at the checkout and the aisles from Friday night and I was shocked that most people were behaving about them (especially the TP) and we still had plenty of wipes and stuff when I left around 4pm yesterday. Meanwhile I'm seeing in my feed how surely enough everywhere else had run out in no time, like wtf are other places just not enforcing them like they should?/Didn't get a load when it happened?/Or just that many panic shoppers? I seriously don't get it when again, we're not that big hard core lock down this time. Legit the only 2 things that heavily are supposed to effect in this 4wk lockdown is food places not having indoor dining and people can't have big groups for fucking Thanksgiving. And if you are going to have people over not in your household, keep it to five people and make sure they quarantined for 14 days or had a negative results 72 hours before that. IT'S NOT THAT HARD.
  19. One ofnmy friends just posted saying one of the clinics on the Eastside of WA have 750 doses they need to use up by tonight or have to throw it out. I wonder if it was a freezer failure or if they didn't have enough people taking the vaccine?
  20. Congrats on negative results guys! Saw a couple of friends share this article, so ya Xmas is going to fucking suck. I honestly can't decide what pisses me off more. No maskers I see at work or those who have a mask on but it's under their chin and I ask them to put it on all the way. It's legit not fucking hard to wear one and if you're going to pretend that you're not a total no mask asshole as least wear it right. https://www.knau.org/post/scientists-confirm-nevada-man-was-infected-twice-coronavirus
  21. Yup, I was right. One of my managers has a BF who works for Costco and his work got an email stating that our Gov and the president of the Washington Food Industry Association met up regarding the new restrictions for the holidays. * All indoor gatherings are prohibited, which they don't know how that's going to be enforced just yet. * All restaurants and bars dine in areas are to be closed, outdoor service is limited to five people and to go orders can continue. * All delis and salad bars will be to go only, no indoor seating allowed for those that are in stores. * Our Gov will be updating guidance on mask restrictions, which will clearly indicate that stores and other customer facing businesses will have a choice to restrict all non mask wearers in the store and provide other options for providing food and essential products. * Occupancy in all retail will be limited to twenty five percent for all grocery and convenience stores. They expect this to take effect Monday, which means it's either been announced my our Gov out in media or will soon tomorrow. So probably still going to have issues with non mask wearers in my work that we're already having. And people are going to be even more angry and hate our Gov for those that already hate him and tried to vote against him in this election. If I die of kidney failure from drinking my stress away it was great knowing you guys. edit: Announcement goes live tomorrow morning. https://www.king5.com/article/news/health/coronavirus/governor-jay-inslee-washington-state-new-restrictions-covid-19-coronavirus-spread/281-6aa36caa-8201-43ff-94de-127737049b8a
  22. Yay for the good news! Boooo about the work fuck up. That's fucking stupid.
  23. Yup, it uber sucks having a uterus. Sorry she had all that crap but at least it's all out.
