  1. Well, let me expand--- they had it a month or two ago, and as far as I've seen recently, it's very possible to get it again and be asymptomatic. They quarantined until they realized they weren't gonna have to go to the hospital then resumed normal life from what I understand. Just the other day got a video of them at their giant ass mega church and my brother was the only one visible in the video, rest of the crowd included, wearing a mask and even then he had it loose around his neck. They recently went to Disney World. Do I need to expand more? They're selfish arrogant idiots and my parents are high risk.
  2. yeah, it's really easy to tip one way or the other on the precaution spectrum. For a while my mom would be like "well are y'all completely disinfecting everything after you go get groceries" and then tell me about how they went to Home Depot and it was packed and they saw so many people they knew and stopped to chat! then turn around and try and lecture me on keeping safe. I have no idea what they're actually doing precaution wise. It sounds like you're being level headed and diligent about it and really that's the ideal but everyone has lost their fucking minds
  3. The "obvious" but not easy route is hard lockdown with universal pay and support for all from the government but I mean there's fuck all chance of that happening in the way that would be needed on the scale it's needed on. Both nuances and absolutes are needed in how we address this thing and people just aren't capable of it. I'm so over this that I just said "fuck it, do whatever" to my mom in an email I censored the word fuck but even a censored version is enough to really piss her off so maybe i'll regret it but who the fuck cares, can't stop livin' amirite i'm not doing well today lmao
  4. I bought stuff to put together lil treat bags. We never get more than a dozen trick or treaters so I'll have a dozen goodie bags (crayons, colouring pages I drew myself, candy, stickers) and if we wind up getting more for some reason then i still have enough to throw together some bags with just candy and maybe stickers. I'm putting the bags out a few at a time on the porch and will sit by the screen door to greet kids if they come but maintain distance
  5. SURGERY???? man. SWIFT RECOVERY WISHES i don't even know what to do but scream in the void i'm glad it went well
  6. It just continues to break my mind seeing these numbers over and over and have places open and trying to pretend nothing is going on. I feel like that article leaves out the part where this metaphorical plane wreck is gonna crash into the still smoldering remains of another wreck. Oof.
  7. Yeah, that's the part I keep trying to stress to anyone I speak to about this.... ANIMAL MEDICATIONS ARE NOT RATED FOR HUMANS. THEY ARE RATED FOR ANIMALS. THIS IS VERY VERY IMPORTANT OH MY GOD PLEASE STOP EVEN THINKING ABOUT EATING HORSE MEDICINE PLEASE OH GOD except I try to be a lot calmer because people are so fucking up in arms and ready to fight over this shit. TIRED our dumbshit friend is home and off oxygen, he's cleared for visitors and actually invited us over this weekend but we declined lol. We'll see him next weekend though. Now that he's (hopefully) fully survived this we're going to rip on him. Dumbass.
  8. oof, that sucks. Like that there doesn't seem to be infection though, that's a relief.
  9. The one time I actually got mad was at some old lady doing the aggressive old lady at the grocery thing... is that a universal type thing or just fucking me? Where some old biddy stays like right up your butt for like 2 aisles because she's somehow decided she needs to be exactly where you are when you are already there and when you move on realizes no wait, she needs to be THERE right now and it goes endlessly until she actually needs to decide on something and pauses or you escape to the other side of the store and by got mad i mean I gave a clipped "please give me space" and just left to shop produce so I mean...not very exciting but up ya butt grannies are still out there waiting for me so maybe in the future i'll just throw hands with grandma in the spice aisle
  10. USA! USA! USA! YEAAAAAAAAAH NO. 1 BABY WE'RE SO AWESOME THAT PEOPLE COPY OUR DEADLY MISTAKES YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH FREEDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
  11. Apparently just today they put out a notice saying 65+ were being added in to 1b so who in the absolute fuck knows. Alabama is a shitshow.
  12. That is heartbreaking and infuriating. So many people have and will needlessly suffer because of this shit. I haven't shared here yet because it was being kept extremely quiet but we had ANOTHER friend in the hospital with covid until very recently.... and she's heavily pregnant with twins. Not vaccinated. Things looked very grim for a while but it seems like her and the babies have made it out and quite frankly she's the luckiest bitch in the universe. Christ. Here's today's "have I said how tired I am yet" joke-but-not-really
  13. That's reasonable but after reading accounts from staff about the numbers of pregnant women with devastating effects and outcomes in hospitals I think it's more reasonable to trust the vaccine. The data that supports them getting it is there.
  14. yeah we've had a couple times over the past year that we've had vague "uh oh is this it" and lee had to get tested at one point because of his dumbass cousin but this is the only time where the timing and symptoms have really lined up to where it was panic mode. I'm surprised the whole ass planet hasn't gone grey haired from stress
  15. ugh. Fun times. I had to take one of the cats to the vet today and they had been super strict for a year about covid stuff, you could only pull up and let them come get your pet, talk to you about it all over the phone, etc. They didn't open their lobby up until a few months ago when they were all vaccinated. I wore my mask in there today because there's just too much spiking happening, and I was the only one in the building with one. I don't think they're being flippant or anything, but I do wonder if/when they'll go back to tightening up on masking and distancing. Thanks to our shithead state government they might have trouble going back to stricter policies, although if anyone gives one of the best vet teams I've ever seen in my life any shit i'll go brawl in the parking lot, fuck it
  16. My parents have their vaccines scheduled! They'll receive their first shots when we get our second round. I'll be able to relax just a bit more now, since they're still not bothering using precautions with my brother and his family (and bro & co certainly aren't taking precautions) Just a bit though, they'll probably act like total fuckwits after they get the first round so I'll have to clench back up but i'll take a lil respite where I can get it for now
  17. Officially got shot #2! I'll share side effects as they come if anyone wants so that y'all know what to expect but I think by now there's enough data for people to know what to expect. It's been about an hour since we got 'em and I don't quiiiiiiiiite feel run down but like... teetering on it? Keep in mind this is how I generally feel after flu shots too so it's pretty normal. We're gonna go out for steak 2 weeks from now once these set in. Still gonna maintain masks and distancing and all that but we can unclench juuuust a bit. Gonna tip real well too.
  18. Holy shit, dude. I'm so sorry. I hope your mom comes through this OK.
