dumbass family update: one of my dumbass uncles either has COVID or out of control diabeetus (or both, let's be fair) and everyone's waiting with bated breath for results and having flashbacks to the gathering they just had like a week or so ago and now suddenly they're all super worried about this and I'm just like lol y'all know i'm not coming to any funerals right fucking shitheads. i'm mad. lol.

i wanna print this out and glue it all over the walls of my brother's house but that'd involve a lot of travel and effort they got covid from a big family beach trip with my SIL's extended family and are now in "well we already had it so we're good" mode. They just got back from a trip to Disney! Stopped in to visit my old at-risk parents on the way back of course! my parents can't understand why this pisses me off.

Teachers belong in this wave imo. Cops can get fucked. There's a looooooooot of fuckery going down with scheduling for this, it's so disheartening. Apparently there was some kerfuffle in the DFW area because a very affluent area was magically having a lot of vaccines doled out.... to the point where our shithead governor was like cut that out or we're taking them back. Then magically we get a call that we're up for one, and since we're in the "medical condition" category it was quite a surprise, we thought our numbers would come up end of Feb or in March. We jumped on it of course, but now that I'm paying more attention to what's been going down it's SUPER suspicious. The setup for it all was like fuckin' clockwork though, so proper work was put into making it run smoothly and efficiently. It's absolutely possible to get this shit going at a good pace but it feels like people are just sitting on their hands and I want to just scream. According to my aunt, Alabama has given out about 39% of what it has, and people like her and my parents who are over 65 but under 75 but have medical conditions like heart shit and diabetes are being told basically I dunno lol you'll get it when you get it.

Yeah, I did the allergy therapy for about 3 years, covid fucked it up and now I gotta find a new place and start again... but I'm well used to injections now! I'd still get some soreness and maybe lil bumps on days where I switched vials or when I slipped a bit with the needle (I administered them myself) but I think worst injection reaction I've had was a flu shot in my teens and even though I tend to be one of those people who get the pseudoflu for a day or two I don't think I've ever had any major swelling or itching. Lee says his arm is sore today but just in the normal muscle jab way. So far so good! I'll report in if anything changes, I'm trying to keep myself available as far as questions about it go since we lucked out and got it early. I think me getting it and talking about it has really helped ease my dad's mind about it, so now he's just mad at the government but intends to take his as soon as it's offered when before he was saying he'd rather delay and get in on a later wave because he wasn't sure if he trusted it

My mother in law got her first shot the other day but I won't really feel anything solid about it until she has that second one done. Quite a few people I know have gotten first round it seems, but I apparently know a lot of people working in healthcare related fields. My dad tried to go on some "well I don't want to be in the first round to get it just in case" bullshit and I point blank told him to shut the hell up. I mean for fuck's sake, dude has regularly told me about all his school friends that died of polio before they all got the vaccine. It's a really bitter feeling seeing the man who had me in awe of science as a child try and rope me in to this antiscience dumbass fucking bullshit. After I shut down his attempt at the "well i'm just sayin'" conspiracy shit he proceeded to complain that well he can't get it anyway because Alabama is run by a bunch of incompetent dumbasses, which is true so whatever. My city announced a waiting list for the waiting list and since we both qualify for an earlier round due to other shit I went on and signed us up, so we'll see how long that takes.

Welp, update on our family situation--- My mother in law is pretty sure that dumbass cousin passed the 'rona over to his mom, so she's been keeping tabs on her and treating the situation as if she has covid as far as full PPE and stuff (MIL is a nurse) and it's gotten to a point where if tomorrow is the same or worse she thinks it's time to take her to a hospital. Aunt and cousin have been isolating from the grandparents (they live on the same property in houses that touch but don't connect, if that makes any sense. A second house was built on the property years ago as a home for Great Grandma and Aunt and Cousin reside there, while Grandparents live in main house) and cousin has been told that if he goes out again that Thanksgiving is cancelled for everyone (???????? pretty sure it was anyway but that's the threat they're going with) and it's all just a big mess and if this post doesn't make sense it's because I'm very very very very very anxious right now holy shit tl;dr: dumbass cousin likely passed covid to his mom who seems to be on a path to hospitalization

No idea on the variant thing. From what my parents say, it sounds like when Lee's aunt had it, but the difference is he's tested positive for it and she tested negative 3 times but they were like "ok but this is clearly covid so uhhhhhh" She had a hell of a time for about a week and she had my mother in law around to take care of her, so I'm super worried about my cousin being alone. But I mean, he's checking in with family and if he stops checking in we know to break down his door i guess! ....or use a key, i think my parents have a spare key. That's less dramatic tho.

Lee's best friend was admitted to the hospital today. His wife is a fucking nurse and he still didn't get the vaccine. He started having symptoms about a week ago and has just gotten progressively worse to the point where he was admitted today. I'm so tired. I'm so angry and sad and tired. My cousin is apparently doing better, she lucked the fuck out. Dumb. Dumb dumb dumb.

As I'm sitting here just stewing over it I'm coming to realize that he likely never was as smart as I assumed him to be, but STILL fucking hell

mom texted me yesterday to ask if we were traveling out there this year. I said no. I immediately get a call from her where she flails around like "well I thouuuught you'd say no buuuuuuut" and I was just like BITCH THERE'S A FUCKING PANDEMIC but... nicer. We talked a bit and after a while she starts complaining about how boring their life is right now. Yes. Because, again, BITCH. PANDEMIC. ETC. but she was talking about how they were isolating so I'm just like well you're not really since you just had your son's whole family visit but ok.... and then she cheerfully starts talking about how maybe she should leave a day early to GO VISIT HER FAMILY INCLUDING MY GRANDMOTHER WHO IS IN HER FUCKIN' 90S and starts listing off people (mainly one uncle and his kids) who are going into the world to work and how she's "extra cautious around them" and I'm just like THEY SHOULDN'T BE HANGING OUT WITH MIMI EITHER but i mean whatever, clearly nothing connects or sticks in their mind just like my in-laws so *throws hands up*

Yeah I saw the headline and my blood pressure shot up and then I read the article and just fuckin' saw red. This is absolute lunacy. Arm is still sore but other than a tiny lil bit of red at the injection site no lump or anything, so pretty standard for a muscle jab type shot for me. Better than typical, really, I got sensitive everything so usually I have more reddening at sites. Stomach's a lil torn up and I've got a bit of a headache but so far that's about it. Lee seems to be doing great. edit to add that we got the Moderna version for anyone wondering

You don't gotta share any details you don't want, I was just very curious esp since my future will likely include similar surgery (hopefully before it gets to that point though, yikes!)
