I hope that's true. I just saw the bracket after you mentioned that, too, and damn that looked stacked. I'd be down for an old-school style tournament of a bunch of quick matches for the first 3/4 of balls to the wall action, then give us some epic semi's and final.

Damn, outright cancelled? No postponement or anything? The anniversary show is one thing, but having a year without the New Japan Cup just doesn't feel right.

Hiromu and Ryu Lee had another terrifying classic. In other news, water is wet.

Well, fucking hell. I think my top matches go Hiromu/Lee, then Moxley/Suzuki, followed by Naito/KENTA. The first half had some good bouts that didn't stand out, but these last three were gold. Hell of a tour in general, really. Maybe the first time I've been hyped for all of the big New Beginning shows.

Mox/Suzuki is one of those matches that I could pick out imperfections, but it added to the vibe of the match. Really unique feeling, and a wonderful clash of personalities I didn't know I wanted so bad, yet felt so right. One of my favorite matches of the year so far. Watching Naito/KENTA now

I liked both of those matches more than most of Wrestle Kingdom. I actually have those two and the New Year Dash matches right next to each other under Okada/Naito, Ospreay/Hiromu and Okada/Ibushi.

I'm excited to learn there will be no undercard tag matches and the building has a time restriction. This should be a lot more like the 2014 G1

Trying to go back and watch old wrestling is so hard for me nowadays. I have enough current product stuff I enjoy that I feel like if I have time to time travel, I have time to stay as current as possible. And I struggle enough with that as it is with school and shit. I've wanted to go back and look at old G1s or follow the career of Jushin Liger or some shit. I did used to have a torrent of all 5-star All Japan matches, and I ordered them in chronological order and got pretty far into that. Such an awesome fucking run. It's also where I realized how much I love Jumbo Tsuruta. That dude's a legend in my heart even if he's outshined by the Four Pillars.
