Yay for productivity! Boo for ass o'clock shifts! Grimy is home, his tail tip amputation was successful! Right now he's chowing down on some food because getting surgery is hungry work.

That whole place was a management disaster, yeah. The GM that hired me quit fairly shortly after she hired me on beyond seasonal and things just kinda snowballed worse and worse. When I left there was finally a new GM so maybe she whipped things into gear?

Glad to hear some good news! Congrats! My life's a bit of a mess right now but I'm not really comfortable going into detail beyond saying Lee and I are both OK, it's friends that might as well be family that aren't. In good news though, Iconcon is happening soon and assuming he isn't too busy being old that means we'll see Maha \o/ Really looking forward to that. Also I have like.... infinite fajita leftovers in the fridge because we went to our fav mexican place two nights in a row (first time was just for a date/treat, then some friends came into town and were like hey wanna go to your fav place?) so that is just the absolute best thing possible

Been a while since POSSUMWATCH Daisy, my current little tiny one I got on Mother's Day is really starting to perk up and become active! Lots of love and care has gone in to her so far.... She is blind in one eye, and the other ain't that great. Her growth is stunted too, but tonight we had a HUGE breakthrough where she lapped some formula on her own! huge huge HUGE deal. So now I have to keep working with her to get her fully eating on her own.... and then we figure out who's gonna take her to be her forever home. If we can't find one, then we will keep her ourselves... but I'd really rather her go to someone with more resources who would be active with her as an ambassador animal! Still a long long way to go to get to that point. She's a good poss.

Jesus, that's a lot. I'm so sorry for your loss, but I'm glad that, as you said, she was able to let go peacefully after all that. Love ya, girl. Hang in there.

POSSUMWATCH 2019: Daisy is still with us but her forever home is back from vacation and we're talking out details on the handoff. Turns out she works at a farm school and Daisy will be an ambassador animal there, AND she will have another NR friend there! Hopefully they get along, it's been awhile since she's been around other possums but she's made peace with the cats pretty easily when she roams around the house so here's hoping

update: Friend is OK now, still lots of rocky days ahead tho. MAHA WAS OLD AND DIDN'T COME TO ICONCON SO HE IS DEAD TO ME FOREVER no deer have crashed through any windows here, although we did have a whole bunch of tornados pass by us last week. Closest one was like... a mile away or something dumb. We're fine, and amazingly no one was killed even though there was lots of damage so \o/ fuck you tornado

Fili has taken a turn for the worse, suddenly has swelling on part of her face. I hope she makes it long enough to get to my mentor since she has way more supplies and experience than I do so she can try some last ditch efforts, but in reality this lil baby was always a "failure to thrive" and I've been keeping her going. She's loved her tiny life though, so while I really hope it doesn't end now, I can know she was happy. Wildlife rehab is really hard sometimes. To not be a total sadsack--- went to a bunch of thrift stores today and got some stuff for the blog I help with and that was a lot of fun! sadsack update: Fili passed away tonight.

Dude, I've almost come to blows over people not respecting my cats too. Back when we just had Boog and it was time to move my in-laws kinda steamrolled over us as far as taking over the actual move itself and crammed a bunch of people in our tiny apartment and were crowding the cat and wouldn't let me take her separately insisting she was fine etc etc and it ended up pretty much traumatizing her. It took like a year or so before she started being confident again. None of it was malicious, it was just "we know better and all the cats we've had have been fine with this and you just don't know" type shit but I was about to just throw hands I was so upset In sadder news, Oobie started to decline pretty rapidly so yesterday we had a in-home service come and we sent him on his way over the Rainbow Bridge. This is the first time in my life I've gone through this, only pet I was ever allowed as a kid was a hamster and while that was sad, it just isn't the same as a cat you've had for a decade, you know? When we lost Percy we'd only had him a few weeks and his death was due to a sudden and traumatic accident. I'm a huge wreck but I'm also at peace that we did the best for Oobie. He was still happy enough to enjoy being near us and getting pets and stuff, and I spoiled the absolute fuck outta him in his last days food wise. Y'all, he got a bit of cheeseburger, he got a bit of cheesy chicken enchilada, he got pulled pork, he got a chicken nugget and he even got sushi grade tuna for his last meal, all that in the last week alone. Before that we'd been giving him as much fancy feast and treats as he wanted/could eat. Near the end he was basically just getting Churus for meals (those treat goop tubes that are so popular!) because that was tasty and easiest for him to eat. He had a good life, he was loved and gave a lot of love. I'm just sad, lol. Gotta figure out how to adjust my existence to not having him in it day to day. and that's my cat rambling

Welp, Grimy's tail tip did die after all so he gets that bit amputated tomorrow. Luckily it's only a tiny portion of his tail and he has full use of the rest so this is just a temporary setback! He's a sweet little guy. He's asleep on my chest. Have I mentioned I love this little possum?

Thank you ❤️ It was just more heartbreak, because his body was technically alive but they couldn't do proper tests for brain activity for a few days so even though we all knew deep down that it was the end, we had no idea what the timeline would be. Once they confirmed it and he did fully pass on thankfully my aunt and cousins were able to move arrangements along pretty quick, although i might have to pay a visit to the funeral home and fart in all the employees faces because they were SUPER unprofessional but that's a whole other kettle of shit. Mostly I'm just thankful that due to vaccines and lee's job being awesome about the whole situation we were able to go out to his funeral. Plus now I got this adorable lil kitten to help me through my grief! Cutest lil fucker you ever saw. Still working on a name that fits, started with Blade (suggested by neighbor as short for Fanblade) but now I'm calling him Percy because we have a black cat decoration I call Percy and it's a cute name
