The first few chapters go at a really fast pace! But it didn't feel wrong or too fast. Just refreshingly quick to get to the point. You go from meeting Asta, to him getting his grimoire, to him being asked to join the Black Bulls in like 3-4 chapters, then he's already heading off on his first mission. In other titles, that whole 'pass the test' trope would perhaps get stretched out over several chapters. You always know the main character is somehow going to scrape by one way or another. I appreciate the Black Clover author fast forwarding past that stuff.

Randomly decided to start reading Black Clover a couple days ago because I noticed it finished recently. ~10 chapters in and I am pretty hooked. I never watched any of the anime so I'm going in blind. I am very curious to see where it goes and how the story and world evolves. Tempted to Google spoiler-free reviews of the ending, just to get a feel for what fans of this series thought of the latter parts and end... but I will resist that urge for now to avoid ruining anything for myself

I just fired up Netflix to check. I found the page for Akane-banashi. No episodes available yet. "New episode coming May 16th." So... I guess I haven't missed anything yet! I haven't watched any trailers or previews yet. I'm very curious to see and hear the anime. Really hoping the seiyuu's portrayal of Akane matches up with what I imagine she sounds like in my head when I read the manga.

The Rays are so annoying -_- The Jays had been on a nice little run of series victories. Then they went on this road trip. First a 2-2 split in Minnesota. I really wanted to see them win 3 of those games. Now they're in Tampa and have lost the first 2 games. That series wraps up this afternoon (probably with another Blue Jays loss!) before they head back to Toronto. They were one win away from getting back to .500 before they dropped the final game in Minny... The next series at home is vs. the Angels, so that should be winnable, but then they play the Rays again, then the Tigers, then the Yanks. Time to figure some stuff out and win games against good teams please!!! I see your M's are only one win ahead of Toronto in the W-L column, so that's not a great start. At least Seattle's run differential isn't a negative number like Toronto's

I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying the anime so far! I've been putting off starting it just 'cause I hardly ever use Netflix. Guess I'm gonna have to fire it up and get watching sometime soon!
-
It’s on my “try it” list! I just hardly ever log in to Netflix. Mainly have it for my kids to use. Akane-banashi is also on Netflix so whenever I get around to watching it, I’ll check out Ramparts of Ice too. I’m enjoying the Kill Blue anime a lot more than I expected I would. Really fun and likable cast of characters and a kooky story.

That was a great twist in Kurumizawa's Folly! Totally had me going. Good show, Hata. I am loving the last couple chapters of Akane-banashi. Her performance of God of Death has been absolutely captivating

Bit of a funny start to the season. Certain teams are disappointing so far, like my Blue Jays But I don't think any team is hopeless. Many teams are just mid. Almost every team is in the double digits for wins except the Phils and Mets (both of those teams might be hitting the panic button soon)
-
I looked at the Mets the other day to see how Bo Bichette is doing over there so far. Pretty sad stuff all around I hope he bounces back soon. He can be really streak-y. The Jays finally remember yesterday that it's good to score more than one run. And they won a game. Shocker! Luckily, the Yankees haven't completely run away with the division yet. One or two weeks of good baseball and hopefully the Jays can get back to around .500 if not better. They started slow last year too. Similar story for the M's, the division is still well within reach even though they didn't have a super strong start so far. They can catch those other teams.

I've found the first couple episodes of Daemons of the Shadow Realm to be pretty good. I need more episodes and more story info to make better sense of what's going on though I'm enjoying having Dr. Stone back in my life after taking the last couple seasons of the anime off. And Ace of Diamond is top tier stuff. The first episode of Kill Blue was pretty solid as well. The manga was fun most of the way. Not the best ending, but the anime probably won't ever get that far.
-
I watched the new episode of Ace of Diamond last night. Hard to believe the first part of Act II finished in 2020. I wasn't sure how good my memory would be, but within the first couple minutes it all came flooding back and I am very invested in this story again. I don't think any of the voice actors have changed. It all just feels right. I've never read the manga but I know it ended a few years ago. I've tried to avoid reading any spoilers but in general it seems like the ending was not well received. However much more of the anime we get, I'm hoping it ends on a good note, even if the story remains unfinished.

And now The Mage Next Door is over. Oh well. It was a fun little series while it lasted IMHO but I guess it wasn't popular. Akane-banashi # 201 She's off to a great start. Almost seems to easy Ichi the Witch # 77 Introduced a new character that I don't have a very good first impression of Hopefully that gets better. Sakamoto Days # 254 I knew he was going to pull it off somehow. "No grudges." Shishiba is a badass Kagurabachi # 117 Last couple chapters have revealed so much about the background of the story. Fascinating stuff. The current arc is sort of like a prequel. The action is about to get crazy and I am here for it

More Frieren has been announced for late 2027: Sousou no Frieren: Ougonkyou-hen Over the weekend I finished up the Hell's Paradise manga and thought the ending was quite good. Curious to know if we'll ever get to see it animated. AFAIK a third season hasn't been announced yet. I haven't watched anything new from the Spring season yet but I've got a few episodes queued up to hopefully watch tonight.

It’s too early for me to be worried about the Jays yet. Lots of time. They definitely need to tighten up various aspects of their game to get better results. I think they can do it. I agree that the Yanks pose a big challenge for any AL team wanting to go to the World Series. They started strong last year too though. Sometimes stuff happens. We’ll see..!

There was a similar situation in the Jays game yesterday, although the Rockies' manager was way less heated. The Jays' batter (Sanchez IIRC) got a strike call overturned, as it was just barely a ball. He was a tick slow in tapping his hat for the challenge, certainly a bit over the two second time limit, but the umps let the ABS challenge go ahead. Managers are going to get real mad when that happens The Rox manager was fast out of the dugout to argue it with the ump. Sadly, it didn't turn into a shouting match and ejection...
