Self isolation, social distancing, sheltering in place, whatever else you call it
dr. b replied to dr. b's topic in General Insanity
I think most provinces in Canada will end up saying the same thing. It's basically just passing the buck onto municipalities or individual business owners, because the provincial/state governments don't want people to be mad at them anymore Anti-vax types are going to get real cranky if certain places still ask for proof of vaccination even after the government stops mandating it. Hopefully it doesn't create more divisions within communities -
I might check it out... I wonder how much of the story can be covered in 24 episodes..? If it's for sure only 24 episodes and then done, then I'm interested, but I don't know if I want to sign up for something that's going to run longer. Looks like the manga has been on hiatus for a long time now, so I guess they can't plan an anime to cover the whole story, since it isn't finished yet. But if they can do a good chunk of the story in 24 episodes with a satisfactory ending then I'd be up for that.

I've enjoying the heck out of these big band arrangements of Monk tunes lately, MONK'estra conducted/arranged by John Beasley.

Self isolation, social distancing, sheltering in place, whatever else you call it

Yup, that's pretty much all that any of us can do. I'm happy to continue wearing a mask regularly even if other people don't want to anymore, and if I don't feel great about going somewhere (crowds and all that) then I just won't go. -

I haven’t been following things too closely except for what I hear on the CBC radio news when I’m driving. Somehow they have not mentioned anything about Ram Ranch Kudos to these folks for messing with these dummies in the convoy. Cops aren’t doing shit so it’s time for everybody else to do something about it. -

We're all gonna get there eventually I guess, so maybe it won't hurt to get a head-start. Out in the open air, I've never bothered to wear a mask. Seems unnecessary. Maybe in a big crowd? But even pre-pandemic, I avoid crowds and large groups, so I'd never find myself in that situation anyways Indoors, I think it's probably reasonable to forgo a mask if you keep a good distance from other people. Like, at my company's warehouse, we've got about 15 staff in a very large shop. The Health & Safety rep doesn't give them a hard time if they pull their mask down when working independently. There's tons of space. But when a few guys are working close together on something, they're expected to wear a proper mask. Recently I've been seeing the odd person going around the grocery store without a mask on. Looks kinda weird at first because I haven't seen that in while, but it doesn't really bother me. I'm happy to keep wearing my mask though. -

Ontario will soon be dropping proof of vaccination requirements and most capacity restrictions. I think that will be fine. The percentage of the population with two doses of the vaccine is pretty respectable. And they've said that masking isn't going anywhere just yet. That would be premature. I certainly won't mind not having to show my proof of vaccination when I want to get into places. It's kind of just a nuisance. I have no patience or tolerance left for the people protesting against vaccine and public health mandates though. Just cut it out already... -

Been a while since I bumped this thread… The situation with COVID is much improved… Now the problem is the people protesting against vaccine mandates and other things Anti-mandate protest outside B.C. high school leads to confrontation, protester hurling insults at student -
New series this week, Akane-banashi. I don't know jack about rakugo, but I'll give it a shot. There was enough there in the 1st chapter to pique my interest. Everything else this week was decent. Nothing really major to note, but I did get a kick out of what happened in The Elusive Samurai.

$51.99 in Canadian funbucks. Looks like there's also a small discount on D2R right now, as it's listed at $44.99 CAD (normally $59.99) on the eShop. So... they're basically giving away D3 if you buy the bundle Save a few bucks and just get D2R, it's a far better game than D3 (IMO of course).

Platinum End #18 Ousama Ranking #17

Pretty solid new chapters of Ayashimon and Doron Dororon this week. I had started losing interest a bit in both, but these chapters renewed my interest. Sakamoto Days was OK too I guess, but I’m not super into the whole entrance exam angle. It’s been done enough times… I did like last few panels though. Nice pen!

The Elusive Samurai #49 — OK, I like the uncle quite a bit more now

Chapter #59 was really good! Several moments.
-
Dr. Stone #228 — definitely didn’t expect that!

Happy birthday! ?

Platinum End #17 was not terrible. Interesting to see Mirai being a little more assertive and actually doing something. I’m a bit curious about the last God candidate… but that character will probably end up being a let-down.

Show-ha Shoten #5 — This was a pretty solid chapter, overall. Nice to learn a bit more about some of the other characters aside from Shijima. I especially like this dude

Spinning some of favourite Sloan albums tonight. Love the lyrics in this one. “I usually notice all the little things, I was proud of it— She says it’s annoying.” Feels like the story of my life ”I missed the point.” Yup. Join the club. I love Sloan. I’m gonna be up all night listening to them.
