  1. Yeah, anime is already such a huge, well-developed thing that these projects are starting with an uphill battle because there is typically such a polished version of the story already available. Like what are you going to add to this to make it a worthwhile endeavor? And if you make significant changes then you anger the fans.

Seriously the action, music, cinematography, acting, etc are all already so good. I mean a book or comic adaptation at least makes sense because clearly you’re able to view the material in a brand new way.

But maybe this isn’t for us. My friends wife loves horror stuff and knew nothing about Death Note before seeing the Netflix adaptation. She liked it and started watching the anime soon after (and that was probably her first anime ever).

  2. D. Gray Man was pretty legit. Beautiful, noire artwork. Story was pretty good too.

The author became ill, which I think is really that they just got ground down by the intensity of a weekly series. These weekly series grind their creators to dust. They eventually moved it to a monthly but by that point there had been multiple hiatuses and it never got back back on track.

  3. Yeah, it is definitely possible to fuck up multiple difficulties. There are plenty of games that do it. In fact a lot of people’s responses in here about giving monsters more health is one typical way they do that.

There are series like MGS which have multiple difficulties and I think are great because of that. There are series like Pokémon which I wish had more difficulties and there are others that have many difficulties but I wish they went with just one because they watered all the modes down. There is no one right way to do it.

I think it’s also fine to be a Souls game and cater to a niche audience.

Have you guys tried these new peanut reese's pieces?  Amazing.  I thought reese's was already perfect, but it turns out the ratio of peanut to chocolate was all wrong.

I have not. I’ll have to try. But I doubt it can be better than the peanut butter M&M

Where does everyone get their Manga from?

I use Comixology primarily these days. I basically don’t read anything week to week like I used to. For scanlations Manga Stream always seemed like really the only ethical choice, but you already need to be caught up as they only have the current 5 or so chapters available for each of the series they do.

I haven’t read a Junji Ito work in a while. I should check those out.

    Anyone else reading Platinum End?

  6. I’m not really sure what SE’s deal is. FFXV was at least half of a good game, same with FFXIII but they just can’t get these games fully polished like they use to.

Dragon Quest 11 was great though but I’m guessing that will end when all the old farts who are the leaderships that series pass away.

  7. I read the first 5 or so chapters of it. I thought it was alright. I think Promised Neverland is a lot higher quality.

I’ve been reading Radiant lately. Actually written and illustrated by a French guy but it’s a shonen through and through.

The only other thing I’ve poked at recently is Eden Zero. Definitely reminds me of what I liked about Fairy Tail before they added a thousand characters and the stories got bad.
