Yup this is how I got in early basically. Places that have more vaccines available than they have people scheduled for the day. At that point, you might as well.

I don't think that is a significant amount of people though tbh. The numbers we are seeing in the difference is just the rate of vaccinations ramping up so much with shit getting opened up wide in most places for who can get it.

It's weird how badly they're handling this. It's frustrating because there's clear science showing that this shit is useless and then it's harmful to everyone to just close all this shit down for no real reason. It's the "just in case" shit I cannot stand because you can't argue against just in case, even when you have facts showing it's fucking stupid. Like...where the fuck are all the "it's science" people now??? It's not a trivial thing to just shut down half the city man. Come on.

I honestly don't get this. The studies show the outside shit is non-existent. It seems like they just stubbornly refuse to cite any science and move to constantly close shit down totally on a whim. I mean maybe we're going a little fast at times down here but that is honestly dumb.

Some of these anti COVID measures have gotten stupid tbh. They've studied how the virus propagates and know all kinds of shit yet continue to try to do completely stupid ass shit like close things like parks. How the fuck are you gonna get covid at the park? Mouth kissing strangers? It's not a fucking concert venue where you're all slammed in together. Use your fucking heads. "Better safe than sorry" isn't a policy you can keep following after a year of information has come out about what to do lol. Shit like this just causes people to start opposing the shit that actually does make sense because they've rightly surmised that you're an idiot. I saw in Michigan they want to make the emergency orders permanent (what?) and that they still have shit like forcing places to do extra cleaning even though we've pretty much learned that surface spread is a complete non-factor. It's shit like that where I get really frustrated because I've been careful but I try to actually pay attention to the shit that matters, you know?

This shit is never going to die is it? I feel like my entire life there are always people that have to be contrarians and everything is a plot or "they heard" what the REAL story is or whatever and it's like...please just...stop okay. Be normal. LISTEN TO ME. Yeah definitely don't feel guilty. Chances are they'd have thrown that shit out. That's why I got mine. They had twice as many doses as appointments and started calling in everyone. Went right at the end of the day. As long as SOMEONE gets it, that's what matters.

Best defense we have now is a good offense. Vaccinate as quickly as fucking possible which we are doing a pretty good job at. Maybe we'll get lucky and outrun the stupidity.

Got my 2nd shot today! It's been like 8 hours so far and nothing so we'll see if I start to feel like shit tomorrow.

So today they had way more shots than scheduled patients and just started calling in whoever. Long story short, Jovanna got me and my mom in and get got the Pfizer vaccine.

Pfizer! Kept forgetting to ask haha. They tried to tell her the first available was a while out but she was like eh fuck that, I'm just gonna go on one of the work days.

Jovanna got the first dose at that job thing on Saturday.

Yeah the entire point of taking that job (this is extra on top of her actual regular day job) is to get that vaccine. So you know, she's getting it almost surely or she'll probably just quit (we don't actually NEED the money, we just want the vaccine ). inb4

Jovanna got a job helping the city with the vaccine stuff so I think she's going to be able to get one really soon. Definitely going to be relieved if that works out.

I don't get this. They added 65+ to 1B even here so what in the fuck is Alabama doing? Who is more susceptible than old people???

The one thing I've found particularly troubling right now is how they're treating people in a lot of places with medical conditions. Outside of Texas it seems like most places are doing shitloads of people BEFORE them and it honestly makes no sense. I was reading this article going yeah, what the fuck? Because like...over in AZ we're vaccinating police officers and teachers before people with medical conditions and like yeah, those people are important but um...shouldn't people with medical conditions be basically first in line after old people? Part of my annoyance is of course because Jovanna has some medical conditions and I want her to get this damn thing soon. I just do not understand why our roll out is seemingly so stupid.

It does prevent infection but if it doesn't completely prevent it, they've said it ALSO prevents getting a really severe one. From what I've read at least.
